  1. Hi James, Looks like one of the better ones, from the outside at least. Does it have the dampers? Chris
  2. People own and run them so yes it's viable. Not knowing how mechanically competent you are and what maintenance or repairs you are prepared to do its hard to say if you should get one or not. There are plenty of parts about so no issue there. Chris
  3. Now all we need is for Rex to buy it!
  4. Paul Bruschan did the alternator for my M151 too, very reasonable and he did a good job. http://www.paulbruschan.co.uk/ Chris
  5. They always had the rule about leaving early on Sunday, and everyone always left early. Unfortunately when people have a long drive home, at slow speed in an old vehicle, they are going to leave early.. it takes us more than 4 hours to get home, and people come from further afield than we do. Similarly they have always had the rule about vehicle movement, it never stopped the people driving around, or the kids on quad bikes!
  6. They looked like a lot of work, hopefully you'll be able to find anything that is missing though. Chris
  7. Hopefully not one from the last tender sale!
  8. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?29706-DUKWs-in-Royal-Marine-service
  9. The Royal Marines still have some DUKWs in service.
  10. You were looking at Stormers & Shielders, they have a different style of track to the standard CVRTs. Stormer sprocket rings have longer teeth and the track horns are also longer.
  11. I am interested in finding out if there are any abandoned Foxes lurking anywhere. Scrap yards, paintball sites, firing ranges etc. Anyone seen one? Thanks, Chris
  12. You can find one of the yard guys and they can start it for you. They are usually more than happy to help, and will even jump start, as long as you don't go mad and want loads of vehicles starting!
  13. There's always the new master cylinder option....! http://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=445 If you get new seals, they need to be soaked in oil for a while before you try and fit them, otherwise they will split when you try and put them over the piston. I know this from experience! Chris
  14. The Dutch Lightwights belong to Withams, they have/had loads of them stacked up in one of the sheds. Chris
  15. I've experienced both of these problems before. Andy's Striker lost steering in the arena at Beltring last year. One of the steering callipers locked on, we changed the master cylinder and it was fine after that. I've also had the starter fault, everything was working then all of a sudden no starter. After taking the decks off we found the wire to the thermal trip had become detached. It would be worth checking both of these. Chris
  16. Not a lot of it worth saving in 2003 when I saw it..
  17. 06FD39 is a Scimitar and will be still in service.
  18. That was not a fun day! I was sat in the arena at Beltring on the Sunday afternoon, 2004 I think. I had a hand resting on a side hatch when it gave way and caught my finger. The worst thing was having to drive all the way home afterwards, every time I changed gear I bashed my damaged fingers
  19. Hi David, I think it was us who bought your Bedford? Chris
  20. The DAFs we are talking about have power steering, I hear they are nicer to drive than the Bedfords. Try searching the forum, this topic has come up a few times. http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicle/,26,/19107/Leyland.htm Chris
  21. I like my Mk 1. Lighter, faster, more room inside and space to give 2 people a ride, even if a bit of a squeeze. Chris
  22. The latest standard of diesel gearbox is much stronger, but probably costs as much as 5 running Spartans. Take out boxes do come up from time to time, I've only ever seen one recon box for sale. Not cheap either. Chris
  23. There was a map with the display fields at Stoneleigh so I guess it will be published soon. Chris
