  1. Would have liked to have met up with a few friends & collegues from the forum. BUT, i couldnt get away from my stall. Only saw Mark Burley at my venue. This time it was more bussiness than pleasure for me!. Hopefully we will meet up at Mayhem, Headcorn Etc. Best wishes to all. Mike.
  2. There used to be one of these at Lord Montegues Motor Museum. (Cant' spell Beulei!!) Mike
  3. I really like those tripple jerrycan holders. I would like to fit a set to my 101. I only have the original single transverse underslung version. Does' any of our membership know where I may be able to source a tripple holder at all? Many thanks. Mike.
  4. Richard, I bought his Fox when it was up for grabs. I went there to drive it home & have revisited subsequently. I agree, it is a Beautifull view from there. The drive as you know, is a VERY steep downhill way out. I was very anxious about my downhill departure in the Fox. But, in low gear, she simply drove slowly down without any excessive engine overrun. It just gave me more confidence in the abilities of the Fox when driven carefully. They can be dangerous as you know if driven 'Normally' without a little extra consideration. Mike. :-D
  5. Yup, and even better as you can tell the crew to do it whilst you make a cuppa from thier BV! As I told them (I have the same cap badge as you) YOU bend it, we, mend it! Mike.....:coffee:
  6. Never mind Lee, console yourself with the fact that your skin is waterproof!!!............:-D
  7. Agreed, It looks like the stubs of the mounting bolts are still in the side of the Hull. Normally, it would have the track coiled up on top of the front top Armour & be towed back with a pair of Hollibones, to a safe area for repair. It transpires that the Sampson Recovery vehicle is U/S for the same reason! This method of 'self recovery' in a 'get you home' mode is not a new idea. As a good example, in the outside area of the overloon museum in Holland. There is a German Panther Tank with exactly the same Field repair/ modification done after having a wheel blown off by a P.I.A.T. Nice to see this actually in Service use. It would normally only be done in a Combat enviroment and also as seen here simply because no R.E.M.E Recovery assistance was available. Still, a lot of time & work done to shorten the track & refit though! Mike. :-\
  8. You clearly can see there most of the work done as a result of the telephone conversation with VOSA - all of which on mine thus far is for nothing!! Two were converted at the same time to this specification, mine and Jason's - Jason got his registered but the stinking <censoreds> refuse to do mine!!! :argh: Neil, Wouldnt this come under the heading of: Case Precedent? If they have registered one, & your is identical. Isnt that also Discrimination? A word MOST Government departments are scared S=++++less about these days!.....:shake: Mike.
  9. Markey!

How you doing? I was just wondering when you wanted to come down for this SMG mate? It's getting a little close to Beltring & I dont know what your timeframe is like? Please do let me know.

    Hope all is well,

    Warm Regards:Mike

  10. LEE, It might be a bit obvious,(But sometimes the obvious can be overlooked!) But, could you get away with jacking up & supporting the last wheel on some Bulk timbers! That way you still only need the three Jacks. Just an observation, you have worked so hard that I would think you may just be a wee bit tired. And MAY have missed this small, but signifficant aid? :??? JUST my own thoughts.....
  11. Would that make you a Party-Pooper then!!!!!? :-D
  12. Oh John, Now here's me thinking you were a traditionalist. I thought you liked them done on a spit!!!! :-D Mike.
  13. As this mark is a VERY rare example on the collecting circuit. I personaly have only seen one example. This BELONGED to a chap named barry Unthank. Barry did a heck of a lot of work on it & had it for a number of years. He subsequently sold it to Pete Green. (X MOD) Pete had it up for sale & I belive sold it on. You would have to talk to Pete to find out where it went 7 to whom he sold it. mike. :coffee:
  14. OPPS! Sorry Mark! I forgot to add. The three main internal pockets are for barrels, The small pocket is for a spare driving spring assembly. The Aliuminium tube is for a Large Black & white painted aiming post which the Tritium lamp fixes to for night usage. This would give a reference point to gauge from in the dark. Large pocket on the outside is for the C2 sight box, which gary has mentioned. It SHOULD contain: a small pozidrive scrwdriver, a tritium lamp, a C2 Optical sight, A sight bracket for the Tripod, a releasing tool, three marker pegs, a mounting pin, & a Triangular marker plate. :coffee:
  15. gary, Its definately a GPMG spare barrel holder. This version is a cheaper made one in fine weave canvas. They are usually encountered in a green '37 type Webbing with the thicker weave. Used with the SF (Sustained Fire) kit when used on the Tripod . Mike. :coffee:
  16. Yep, didnt stop me from doing a Bootfair there later.I got through two large Bottles of fizzy flavoured Water! The weather was scorching later, I took the 1 Tonne & a Sankey trailer full of Crap (Sorry, Highly saleable goods!) down. Had a Very good Morning, met & talked to a few interesting people. And had some positive complements on the vehicle. I found that taking something different along (Allthough I just thought it practical & more convienient) drew quite a few people over. I would say more than if i had taken just the car along. Did well, & had a good morning. Bonus, I only had to get up a six O'clock! :-D Mike.
  17. Big greatcoat or desert duffel coat, gauntlets and a wooly hat mit goggles and away we go. Gary Gary, Dont tell me you still wear all that gear in THIS Weather?!!.....
  18. You know what they say, A picture says a thousand words............. I would imagine that 'The Restorers', were EXTREMELY dilligent in taking your money though...:cool2:
  19. =safariswing;147722]Was you at the Bunker Bash then:confused: No Lee, I wasnt. Logistics probs that weekend with the Ferret! :-(
  20. They were all lost at Dunkirk. I belive the spiking procedure was ranm a shell down the barrel from the front then put a round in the breech and fire by long lanyard. This is correct. An 'Obstruction' was inserted into the barrel at the muzzle end.& a shell fired 'Remotely'. It fell under the heading, 'destruction of equipment to prevent falling into Enemy hands'. The Germans however, were very adept at modifying things. If the carriage was undamaged, they simply re-barreled the carriage with whatever ordanace was available. Some good example of this can be seen at the Museum at Overloon. German carriages with French Ordanance fitted. It was not always possible with time constraints, to disable the guns COMPLETELY. IE: emptying the recouperators & buffers of oil when firing the last disabling charge. this would also have damaged the carriage to the point of eneconomic repair. A common practice, & instructions can be found in the back of MOST equipment user handbooks. :coffee:
  21. Ferretfixer, there was loads of room there for you to display a vehicle from what I saw. I have done some phoning around & it turns out that the 'Organiser' a Tw*t named B** F*****r. Has much previous for cocking things up. I am informed by another VERY high profile show organiser that has had dealings with him previuosly. The words, Cock-up, Brewery & Organisation skills lacking were foretold to me!!!! I am not at all suprised, judging from the reception I got!!! I will be taking the matter further with his Boss!!! I was booked in to be with Kev lowdons Green Howards as I am the Battalion Armourer Sergeant with that Display Group. I had a lot of rare & Interesting weapons with accessories to display. A lot of trouble & effort had gone into collating my stuff. So to be let down by an Incompetetnt 'Civvy' really Pi**ed me off!!!! This was a Day for Armed Forces & Veterans. And, as a Vet myself, I was extremly disapointed at the Crap organisation in my case! We spent the day on the Beach at Dymchurch which was nice. But most certainly NOT what I had wanted or planned! I sincerely hope other members had a good day & enjoyed themselves.
  22. And this springs to mind. Would you ALSO need a permit for an Ex Military Push bike? After all, it's a vehicle (Sort of!) & it's Ex Military!..............:???
