  1. Firing over open sights is Known in Artillery terms as 'Point Blank Range'!
  2. Didnt' you know you can ride 'sidesaddle'?...............:-D
  3. it may have been done when there was a drop in scrap metal prices a few years back. It would have cost more in gas to cut them up than you would have got cash for scrap!
  4. Just to add to the 'List'. PUBLIC PLACE = 'A Place where the Public have access, by Payment, Or Otherwise'. (legal Definition).
  5. You dont mean Monty Modlin from the TV do you?......................:cool2:
  6. This is correct. I posted a couple of months ago after visiting my local TA unit to 'Collect' some stuff before it was junked! I saw the new L/Rover trailers there already & was informed to 'note all the registration marks of all the MJ's held on strength there. Why = 'Because they were ALL low milage & going for disposal soon'. They are THE ones to buy if your looking for an MJ. = Im not though! This info was imparted to me because ALL the Army 4 Tonners are being replaced with a totaly new series. I BELIVE it is German MAN's they are getting? Mike.
  7. I dont think It's either of those. SA 80 hase dedicated type covered in black rubber skin. SLR are the old Ally types with leather covered springs. Common as heck! (usually painted Bronze Green) Silver paint finnish is indicative of AFV Usage. The little rubber bump block at the bottom is not typicaly Brit either. :red:
  8. Well I, actually knew Monty!........................Well he was a Dog with the same name! :-D
  9. Im still waiting to see her suitably undressed in a TANK of water! :cool2:
  10. Hello Mate, You still looking for kitbag locks? I have had a small number of different types come in. Mike. :-)
  11. Or it MIGHT be blunt from being thrust in too many of 'Them Nasty Germins'!........
  12. I remember this one! I was stationed in Norbury at the time when I was in the Police after first leaving the Army. I thought the guy was great! He also had a T34. He painted it pink to Pee off the local neighborhood wingers! Also then mounted a huge plastic Marlin on his roof. he got taken to court, the judge was amused & could see his point. But was ordered to take the big fish down! Enough is enough said M'lourd! Another case of a harmless collector & 'Other People' who just because they dont collect or do what we do. Winge & Whine at the slightest Military object! I have had similar complaints from ONE next door Neighbor about my RL being parked on my drive. I ALSO pointed out I was happy to park on the road & obstruct the close! (Quite legally!) Everyone else around the close think my vehicles are cool & support me. (Especially when I collect each year for the Poppy Appeal!) I also have a Young Married Couple who are Police Officers in the close & the Husband thinks my ferret if Brilliant! No probs there then, only the miserable git next door who has a scotty dog that is left out in the back garden to bark & make noise incessantly. Do I complain -NO! OH yes, & next door to him, is ANOTHER dog exactly the same breed & colour that is left out almost all day Barking virtually ALL the time! Have I complained -NO!
  13. I have never seen this type of mount before (Which is suprising as an Armourer!) But looking at the angle of the inside. It would SUGGEST that it may be from an Armoured vehicle. As some armour sides are sloped, when this clip is mounted flat on an angled plate. The gun would be at the correct flat plane to be out of the way without too much sticking out. As it has an FV number on it. Clive Elliot MAY just be able to ID it from his vast library resource! :-D
  14. Never seen anything like these before, & I have handled tons of Militaria! The axe is nice, it looks like the handle on the side turns it into a wirecutter also. Oval hole in the blade is for removing nails. Dont know from which country it's from though. It wouldnt suprise me to find out it may be Swiss! They have turned out some very nice quality Military stuff! Mike
  15. Interesting that the 'Weapons Specialist' (sic) picks up a British Sterling L2A3 9mm SMG & calls it a 'Beretta'! (Italian) Yep, id' sure rely on him for advice!.........:red:
  16. GPMG 7.62mm L7A2 Machine Gun. EXPENSIVE! :wow: £2,500-£2800 + for a Deact! I saw one at the weekend for £3,500!
  17. Cant swear to it. But, it looks like an Ex RE's plant trailer. Poss for a road roller? Mike
  18. Martin, speaking loosely on the subject of 'Poking'. I dread to think what the instructions on Condoms packets state these days!...
  19. In line with, but NOT appertaining to this particular Tank. There used to be a very tidy looking T34/85 outside a garage in Cranbrook, Kent. on the main drag to Maidstone. It was placed so it looked like it had just burst through a large tree line behind it. Very nicely turned out paint wise! I havent driven accross that part of the wold for over 9 years now. Does anybody know if it's still there? I also noticed a few ex Army trucks behind the tree line as I drove by. Im sure somone from our membership knows the owner/s? :undecided:
  20. Most people buy flowers or chocs on Valentines day. Guess what I bought?.......................A US 81mm M1 Mortar complete! (Went to a Militaria fair first! Go to get your priorities right!) She was not overly impressed.....I cant see the problem myself!??? Who's not Romantic? I, love it..............:nut:
  21. CARRIER, GS. (General Service) used through the Fifties, sixties & seventies. Used to carry, a radio set,(A41 before it got it's dedicated carrier) two of the wooden ammo boxes with the top folding handles. A water jerrycan, & just about anything you needed to 'Manpack' about! Quiet a few survive & are around £10-£15 quid a pop. There are photos around showing thier usage in British Service. :-)
  22. This point is a well put notification! I know there are certain members who have large plant vehicles. IE: Airfield graders, Etc. Classified as plant & not allowed for in the present propsed legislation. They too, could fall foul of this proposal! These vehicles are few & far between as they are LARGE & thirsty. If they disapeared from the circuit, the likes may never be seen again. As an aside, I personally have NO interest in Plant equipment. BUT, we should be banding together as a TEAM to inform those 'Powers that be'. Just because we own different classes of vehicle & there MAY be a mentality of, 'Well, it wont affect me' attitude. THIS DOES NOT MEAN IT MAY NOT IN THE FUTURE! We have a chance here to affect & change the PROPOSSED legislation. As the Honourable MP has stated perviously. 'If enough difficulties are rasied as to make this proposal too difficult or unworkable. It may all be abandoned'. (Or words to that effect!) Just my two pennies worth! :-X Mike
  23. Didnt say anything about NOT firing from windows of rooms or from inside cars/ vehicles either!...........:-X
