  1. That is Correct Tony, I always include the US as it has a bigger customer base. & if I didnt, I probably wouldnt have got the 'Snotogram'! Ebay = We want EVERYTHING our own way!
  2. Nah, Comes under the Heading NBC Warfare!......
  3. Isnt that a place near Barking (Mad!)................
  4. If he were still alive!....................
  5. It MAY be from a batch that Budge imported a few years back. I have seen quite a few all together looking just like yours, all from the same place. Also, ALL the Guns were removed. I wanted a Silencer box when I had a Saladin at the time. They were most happy to remove one & the elbow casting & sell it to me direct! Mike
  6. And available to the M.O.D at Rolls Royce prices!..............:cool2: Mike
  7. EXCEEDINLY Easy to convert a Bren/ LMG to semi-Auto only! I used to do LOADS when we were able to own them as shooters here in 'Great'? Britian. Also had them as Shotguns with a smoothbored barrel. a LOT less restrictive than as a Firearm on your cert! Used mainly for Blank firing then! Today of course, our wonderfull Governments have seen to it that we are not to be entrusted with such fun tools. And now only the Criminal Element have the 'Privellidge' of owning Full & Semi-Automatic Live Firing Arms (Illegally of course) :-( It has made no difference to Armed Crime at all. Crimialise guns, & only Criminals will have them!.........:argh: Rant over! Mike.
  8. WARNNG! Be carefull od Cutaways! There are a LOT floating about that were done by a Dealer here in the UK. NOT, the correct versions done by the Miliitary! Mike.
  9. Yes I got the same Pathetic message from Evilbay! I sell a lot of stuff there to the US within the difficult Framework of Evilbays restrictive Domeneering rules. This will now make things even more difficult for a LOT of sellers! I for one, am going to look and see how this other site is growing & progressing. If it REALLY takes off, then F*** Evilbay! They are MORE than ready to slip in extra charges for this & that. But as soon as you make even a TINY Mistake. The are down on you like a Ton of bricks! Do you know, they DONT Police the site themsleves. They are reliant on tiny minded Jelous Twats who have nothing better to do in thier Pathetic NON Lives. That trawl through pages of listings & report items to the Evilbay Police! It is then removed. Brilliant system Eh? They dont have to waste time looking through listings. Im sure you all know the types I mention? It is self evident when you get one of your own listings removed, & somewhere else on the Auction. Another Person offering an IDENTICAL item slips through & sells it! I think the word is Hypocrite! You can mention all this to Evilbay as I have done in the past, many times. They dont give a Toss! But they are VERY dilligent in taking your fees each month! :banghead: Mike.
  10. That 'Gasket' is an Old Workshop Jobcard! an EXTREMELY commonly encountered item! It was made by puting the card over the hub end & tapping with a spanner all round the perifhery & also the holes. This had the effect of 'cutting' the exact shape of the hub & made a 'gasket'. I have done this,as Im convicnced Richard has, on other equipments. HUNDEREDS of times! It was a normal VM thing. The Ferret hub should really only be smeared with Hylomar which was a Blue sealant recomended by Rolls Royce & was available from the G1098 stores. I used to keep a tube in my Toolbaox as a VM. Richard will im sure, recomend a current comercial equivalent compound. Mike.
  11. there were Issued in Lieu of the Boots' Plastic bottle that came after the original stoneware jars supply ran out. Mike.
  12. Damm shame if S.E.M.E is moved! I personaly hope it IS cost prohibitive! This a HUGE, Major Logistic Move! Please do keep us all updated with any info you do come accross please Reccymech!
  13. :-) I heard a while back that Bordon was to be Moved. But i thought that had been cancelled? The school site has been owned by Vosper Thornycroft for a few years now. Guess they want to reshuffle & attempt to save Money as they are a Business! It will probably end up costing more than it will save, as ususal! :nut: What a great pity if it does close. It has been the Home of R.E.M.E almost since it's inception. I have served & visited it at Bordon Many, Many times. Ah, happy memories.....:-)
  14. I beleive it was not termed a War Bob, so the Governemnt would NOT have to pay out any War Pensions to our Boys who got injured over there. OR, War Widows pensions! Bean Counters again! Saving Pennies & wasting Thousands!.....:argh: Mike.
  15. If It's your steering linkage that is the problem. And this seems now to point to this from your discription & Pics. It will be a LOT easier to repair than if the hub interior has a problem! At least the steering linkage is outside of the Hull & VISIBLE. I would sort this defect out first, then. When you have done that, put your hands either side of the hub assembly & rock left & right quickly, HARD, & as fast as you can! Any major play will be imidiately apparant! You might very well be lucky & discover that it is ONLY your steering linkage that has a problem! Fingers Crossed! Good Luck & keep us all posted! Mike.
  16. :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:Excellent!!!!
  17. I have had a few spirits in the back of my RL. But I drank them all at the last show! :cool2: Mike
  18. You need to have the vehicle on LEVEL ground. The filling plug must be either at 3' O,Clock. or 9 O'Clock. This acts as a the correct level for the oil when filling. If you do NOT do this, it will Overpressure with the amount of Oil in the housing & blow out somewhere causing damage & a MESS! :-X Mike.
  19. I joined in '74 & served through with the Regular Army until 1985. Green 1960 pattern combats were the order of the day in the field until the introduction of DPM Cammo combats. I was issued one (of my Two) 1960 pattren jacket in DPM cammo! DPM Cammo has continued to be used right upto the intro of Soldier '95 Patt clothing. WAY past the exit of the Feret from Military Service. So you could get away with any DPM Cammo clothing just to get a 'Military Blend' if you like. The first unit I was attached to was an Armoured Engineer Unit. DPM COMBATS were ALWAYS worn in the field on Manouvers & on Ranges Etc. The only time I saw Lightweight Trousers worn was by the Unit Cooks, who had got thier DPM trousers grubby through the constant type of hard work they gave the unit. Olive green lightweights were 'Backup' for them. Some units had different policies, so I cannot comment on that from a personal viewpoint. Correct, in that RTR units wore Black coveralls, though I have seen DPM combats in winter when it was cold! Other unit Ferret & 432 Drivers got hold of the Tan one peice twin zippered coveralls. They were Khaki blanket lined & lovely & warm! If you can source a set, use them to drive to shows. They will keep you warm! Just my opinion & actual Service Expirience. Hope it helps you? Mike.
  20. [ Clive, as they are modern mainly Anodised allimimium, not a great deal. The top row are RAF Capbadges & about £2-£3 ea. 2nd, 3rd, & most of the fourth row are Army Pay Corps & worth whatever you can get for them! Last two of the 3rd row are REME & unofrtunaltly NOT a matching pair. £1 ea. 5th row are all WRAC Capbadges & value is around £2-£3 ea. 6th row again Army paycorps, The only item that is remotley interesting is the shoulder title, again Pay corps. £2. So the answer im afraid, is not a lot! They are very commonly encountered. They are mostly collar dogs, and a few cap badges. Sorry to pee on your bonfire Sir, but that is how it is! Good luck. Mike. QUOTE=fv1609;199468]Can anyone give me an idea of the value of these badges please?
  21. Well done Lee, It looks in very good shape. All you have to do now is source a Shield & a Tube! Excellent Mate! Mike
  22. There are stowage diagrams in the Ferret user handbook that tell you where the Sig Pistol is stowed. Flare cartridges in tins: Stowed generally wherever you could put them! Mostly together with the Sig Pistol for convinience. The Pistol was not used frequently so it was jsut another item of kit that had to be looked after & you were responsible for preventing it's loss when you signed it out! Like a lot of equipment, it was stowed wherever you could find a space for it! The 'Rulebook' went out the window! Magazines: 10 can be fitted in the Internal Hull holder if you put them in upside down. But in practice they were NEVER left in the hoder. They were another item you signed for with your SMG & it's cleaning kit when you took your personal issue weapon out of the Armoury. Because YOU were responsiible for the equipment on your charge. You would NEVER run the risk of leaving them like that in a vehicle where there was a chance that they could be 'lifted'! ANY Ex Serving member will bear this out. Thermos Flasks: They WILL fit in the holders, but ONLY just! you have to be VERY carefull on how you get them in the brackets! I pull my strap over a little bit each side at a time. Untill you can get the throwover catch to link up & close. It is a knack! We never bothered taking them out of stores, ever! If you needed a hot meal or a brew, you used the No:2 cooker. At night, you cooked in a hole in the gound under a Bivvy sheet to hide the flame signiture. If you were canny, you had a small NORMAL stainless steel flask that you had made a brew in earlier on. Space in a Ferret, as anybody knows who owns, or has served in one. Is at a premuim! So, if you can leave something out of the vehicle, or have got an item that will make life easier or more comfortable. that took precedance over most things 'OFFICIAL'! My own stance was always: 'Anyone can struggle, It's the Canny ones who are more comfortable'! The RE.M.E vehicles were always the comfortable & well kitted out one's. We had beds in the back of 434's & Bedfords & thier trailers! Also funny that we were always the one's which were well stocked with Beers! Sometimes obtained by getting a Unit member out of embarassing situations on Exercises without telling the rest of the Regiment! Almost all Main unit vehicles were forbidden to have alcohol onboard during an exercise. This was known as a 'Dry Exercise' something we always ignored! :-D Mike.
  23. That's because it's EXACTLY what it was designed for! Also will take the No.4. Mike
