  1. The MAF riders handbooks seems to be the most numerous one, even I have one! Lex
  2. I don't have a picture of one, must be rare! is it a C or an S prefix contract? Cheers, Lex
  3. That plate is strange, not the size of a contract plate, more like the Matchless/Norton spare frame, engine or spare gearbox plates. OK, had a better look at the picture, and it does look like a rectangular contract plate, sorry for the confusion! Lex
  4. Ow, totally forgot, was wrestling with Welbike wheelbearings!! will check after dinner. An extra 3" ! Janet will be pleased! Lex
  5. Ok, just checking!! would be a shame if you'd all painted it, and it was not good! Keep up the good work! Lex
  6. Ok, I see what you're doing, but did you check the mudguard on the bike, with the number late holder, to see if the face of it is completely vertical? it somehow seems still to be very short? could be the angle of the picture maybe. Cheers, Lex
  7. Nice work sofar, are you restoring one, or is there enough to do two of them? I have a repro Miller taillamp, but it needs work, will see if I can make some pictures. Cheers, Lex
  8. Note, that there were 3-4-5 factory fonts, so check your contract!! Cheers, Lex
  9. Nice Steve, let me know please if you find another decompressor lever, still missing one! Cheers, Lex
  10. It's a P&M alright, but more like a 1918 model, every year had it's updates. Lex
  11. You won't find any to copy, If I would take mine apart, which I will not do, sorry, it will fall apart in hundreds of pieces! the 3 copper rivets need to be removed to take it all apart, so best is to make a 3D drawing of it. Cheers, Lex
  12. Great! but as I said, all the Canadian ones I have seen were that same colour. Lex
  13. Sorry, but I wouldn't rely on descriptions from very old model kits, the manufacturers of modelling paint have had it wrong for the last 50 years or so, and only now some of the right colours are appearing on the market, but the studies of Mike Starmer and the like, have got us on the right track, strongly advise to order his books, they have colour swatches in the back, plus the Humbrol/Revell formula's to make paint samples, that you can then use to have paint mixed for your real bike. Last picture is of my reference books on the subject. Cheers, Lex
  14. I think, of what I've seen, an NOS crated TRW for sale in the US about 15 years ago, the colour was the same as for the British Army TRW's, glossy Deep Bronze Green. Hope that helps, Lex
  15. Yes, try that, I'll have 5 or so, if you do get them made. But it's possible to make a mould, and pour them yourself, but never tried that myself. Or print them, another possibility. I might be able to have a 3D drawing made up, by a friend. Lex
  16. Yes, that was my thought too, Jeff Hunter, but he doesn't want to make stuff that will not sell in large quantities, I tried before, with the rubber johnnies over the throttle bodies (out of the 200 or so we had made in the Czech republic, we are completely sold out, took over 10 years, but still). Am I right in thinking, the rubber is riveted and sandwiched between the metal parts?? Cheers, Lex
  17. I actually have 2, but one is modified, and painted black, rubber is rock hard, and breaking off, the other too, but has some cracks, it would be nice if someone would repro these! note the black one had L/WD MCT1 (Lucas, War Department, Motorcycle Tail, 1) stamped in the lense housing, the bracket on the early ones is not stamped. Lex
  18. Hi Chris, that came out quite good! But as for the rubber, I only have one with it on I think, and no repro's are being made as far as I know, except for the much too small in diameter Indian copies, of the complete lights. Will see if I can make some pictures, Lex
  19. Yes, the chrome ones are much easier to find, bead blast them, and paint, then it's the same thing. Cheers, Lex
  20. Ok, I checked, and have another Austin, exactly the same lay-out, this is for a Car 2 seater 4x2 Model G/YG. Lex
  21. Ok, there are more types of course, but have never seen this type before, maybe only for that contract? Or for Austins alone? most makes used the standardised types, as I showed. Thanks for posting the pictures, I collect pictures of Contract plates, have about 100 different ones. As a rule of thumb, contracts starting with a C have a brass plate, those with an S have a steel plate, the V usually brass, but there are anomalies and exceptions. Lex
  22. Nice, but your contract plates are etched the wrong way, the background should be deeper, easy to rectify I guess. Picture of one of my repro's, I'm also into making the later steel ones, but still some work to do. Lex
