Re proofing canvas

Recommended Posts

What's the best stuff to use to re-proof canvas. Some people suggested using Thompson water seal. What's best.

Granger's Fabsil and Mesowax - not sure either / both are still in production though. Granger's have a website.

Fabsil is a kind of silicone soak and rot proofer, Mesowax goes on the outside to waterproof.

excellent info thanks folks :)

I was just thinking about having a go at the rather leaky canvas on my LR...having had a look at the website for these products ..and wondering if you folk have used it before ?...can you maybe maybe tell me how much I would need to do a SWB Landrover canvas ?...would their 1 litre tin be enough ?

thanks Bob

Go to your local Saddler and buy a couple of tins of New Zealand Rug waterproofer for cotton rugs, or check out the Nixwax site. The other one was Thompson Waterseal but formula changed recently,
