The old 2.2 series c engine is a tough brute. A friend of mine sent me a picture of one being used in Africa to power a water pump. The cooling consisted of pice of drain pipe placed into the outlet pipe of the water pump which ran back to the top of the block, then vented through the block into an open trough. Apparentley it had run this way for years! :D

While you've obviously got a lot of work ahead of you, your chassis, tub and engine all seem to be in reasonable condition and it all should scrub up quite nicely, especially if you do it to the standard of your other projects.

Cheers,

Terry

Thanks for the encouraging words! There has been a lot of work done to the body (not by me) which is brilliantly done. Chassis wise there is one cross member that needs replacing but other than that seems fine. Windscreen is possibly repairable but beyond me. Doors, tailgate etc rusted through at the bottom but mostly solid. Not sure how strong the hard top is still as it looks quite rusty on certain joints but I'm not worrying about that yet. A lot of work but should get there in the end

Had the chassis welded the other week. Needed a lot more replaced on the rotten crossmember than was expected as some other internal blistering had occured but a fantastic job was done which I could never even try to match!

Have spent several days now chipping of the mass of underseal but is just about ready for a wire brush and a paint.

Been a while since the last update but a lot has gone on.

Lots of little bits done eg. Grille. Chassis is all painted hopefully ready to have the engine fitted this weekendwhich is now mostly in one piece except the manifold etc.

Got a nice lot of NOS Gipsy bits from Holland including starting handle, fan belt and the horn and dip column for the steering column.

Getting there now

It has been a long time since I last updated. Got so far behind on this I never got around to updating it.

Wheels and hubs came off, cleaned up, UJs replaced, had new brake linings fitted etc. and then it all went back together.

Keep forgetting to update this page

Lots of little bits done

It runs, didnt have the rad in so only ran it for a couple of seconds but mean im on the way up

Rad now fitted, just need a couple more hoses

Lots of little bits cleaned up, painted and fitted

Bad news with the fuel tank, had a pinhole leak so gave it all a good clean up and the hole easily became bigger and a crack is visible alongside it so am debating with myself the next best step.

Cut the rust out of the outer wings and welded in new pieces, now in primer

Windscreen in primer (bottom section is all bodges up but there is none of the original screen left there!) Have another windscreen I can work on over the winter but this will do for the time being.

Started work on the fiberglass top

The inside had been filled with a gritty plaster like paint, most of which came off with a power wash.

Just need to let it dry enough so I can rub it down further and give it a coat of primer.

Also stripped one of the doors right down to bare metal and primed.

Hard top has been fitted and was later primed.

Rear door all fitted just need to get some new seals for the glass.

Near side door fitted (other side still needs repairing)

Finally the fuel tank has been repaired by a local fabricator ( RG Services ) who replaced the whole bottom section, its currently being left with petrol in to double check for leaks.
