  1. Irish Army about 1960-ish  ;-)
  2. Mark, I was wondering if you had been in touch with him. Hope you get it sorted out.
  3. That long? worth trying Viagra, may get it up quicker
  4. Hi Clive, We have one of these tents at Beltring, but without the centre section and only one pole and we can put that up with a minimum of 4 men, reckon the one shown would be minimum of six. I can see where it was, but not sure of its use, not a cider tent by any chance? Good to see you and meet Mr HF, we had two really enjoyable days there.
  5. Lee, Where is Neil, have'nt seen him on here for ages?
  6. Beer or Cola ?? I think he owes us a whisky for enduring all those postings :-)
  7. M113, M748 Tracked Rapier, Chieftain, diesel Sherman, numerous motorcycles from several countries, Gama Goat..................all two stroke principle
  8. Just in case any of you with MJ / MK Bedfords, are not aware. To access the water pump and anything else in that area, also head removal, the cab floor between the seats, is removable. This is only on M series, and not TK models. The seats have to be removed first. I have had years of repairing experience of these and rebuilt countless engines for them. I do have a few spares for these and will check exactly what and list it in the adverts if there is enough interest.
  9. Tim, Good as Radweld was in its time, there are better products on the market now. One that is gaining a good reputation, is K-Seal, check out the company website, http://www.kalimex.co.uk I have used it myself, and also know someone who had an Austin lorry with a crack in the exhaust port of the head and it worked well on that. I found it in the local trade motor factor.
  10. Mick, Not sure but I think Clive will be offline for the week as he is at the Dorset steam fair....but I can answer the question. The banjo bolt is a standard Solex item and used on many other types of their carb. The description comes from the miltary parts list. As Solex was originally a French company, their tooling and drawing must have originated over there, even 1940's British made Solex carbs were metric threads.
  11. To be historically correct, REME was not formed until 1942. Prior to that, vehicles and equipment would have been maintained by RAOC, RASC or RE, the latter two basically looking after their own equipment.
  12. I remember when he was my apprentice :-) dread to think how long ago that was.
  13. Tony, That was my old workplace for 22 years, not TA, but 44 Command Workshops. Most of it was knocked down for the high speed railway, sadly. I did take my vehicles to the opening of the TA centre there and the 50th Anniversary of REME, so will endeavour to get there with my REME marked truck and a 1944 Fordson mobile workshop that would have served in REME. The latter is under restoration at this present time so should be ready for next years season....and we are within 10 miles of the barracks.
  14. Don't laugh.the Saracen in Sam's posting is not someones imagination gone wild. It actually appears to be one of the South African army versions, probably for testing the turret during the development of the Ratel, which replaced the Saracen.
  15. Mark, I am not an expert on US kit, but if you look at those baggy overalls they were issued with, pale olive colour, you will notice the distinctive HBT pattern to the cloth
  16. Mark, Herring bone twill..............it is the pattern of the weave.
  17. Jack, Clive emailed me to find out if I was getting the same message, he was quite sure that the mafia had caught up with you
  18. yes, yes..........next thing you will be saying is that your Pig flies :-D
  19. Don't think the neighbours would appreciate that
  20. If you ever want to find Clive at the Steam Fair, he will be at the back of the crowd, watching the Can-Can Dancers on stage..............never at the front, most of us are too wise to that ;-)
  21. Thanks Clive, The "theme" clue did not help me, it was the end view, showing what looked like a Cream Cracker :-D I pick up my prize at the Steam Fair  Not a 10 year old packet of ration biscuits either!
