Hello les freathy,

 

the Magirus Uranus isn´t like the Uranus of Swiss Army that ar right-hand-drive vehicles.

This Uranus ist on of the first Prototype of Magirus Uranus Tank Transporter. (Magirus A 12000)

 

The Belgian Army an der German Bundeswehr have tested this vehicle which has some differents to other later Uranus.

-Air filter

-no winch

-other positions of weights....u.a

In the late eighties early nineties the new age travellers on the a46 near stroud had a uranus as I went and looked at it and also a mk1 stalwart they had there I last saw it on a site near longwell green it had either a caravan or home built living on the back. dont know what happened to it after that I do remember that it was painted fire engine red and they were having engine troubles with it.

... here are a few pics of the Uranus which is located in Burgdorf, Switzerland. That's the official Swiss Military Collection (Stiftung HAM).

I was under the impression that most of the British army's Vehicle in Berlin was bought by the German ,thats why they had mainly German vehicles and a slight variant in the number plates like z or y ,im going back to 1984 until 1994
