Scoot65
A search for "1939 30cwt Commer Q2" threw up this old thread. What is surprising to me is that my Dad's Commer is mentioned / pictured in posts 9 and 13. Long before I joined HMVF!! Anyway, I just thought I'd mention the fact that it's still owned by my Dad and that the Commer is going to be up for sale soon........... Rootes75
On 2/16/2009 at 9:23 PM, Higgins kpt. said: here is my picrures from reconstruction- 1.removal "bus" box, 2.cab and free chassis 3. build new body I note the length of the chassis on yours Tom, my Commer has its original towbar fitted to the rear cross member and thats where the chassis stops. I have rubbed it down now and its definately not been cut down. I am very much coming round to thinking the lorry is a Pre-heater truck. Looking at contempory pictures of the GS body trucks, the chassis should extend at least a foot or two past the rear cross member. I will post a photo that shows the chassis.
