  2. Regarding running petrol engines in older vehicles. Does any anyone put additives into the tank when filling up with modeern fuel? Or do you just use unleaded 4 star?

  5. Many thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful and much appreciated!
  6. I was wondering if anyone could help me. Is it possible to ascertain an engine's capacity by using engine numbers rather than having to (I assume) remove the cylinder head? The engine is in a 1939 Commer Q2, it's a straight 6 engine. Is there a registry I could use or something like that? Cast into the side of the engine are these numbers:- 85 X 120 C 20xxx (I've not given full number here) Many thanks!

  17. A search for "1939 30cwt Commer Q2" threw up this old thread. What is surprising to me is that my Dad's Commer is mentioned / pictured in posts 9 and 13. Long before I joined HMVF!! Anyway, I just thought I'd mention the fact that it's still owned by my Dad and that the Commer is going to be up for sale soon...........
  18. Very interesting pictures, thanks for posting.
  19. My Dad's got an restoration project that he wants to sell. The vehicle in question is a 1948 Vauxhall Velox, it has the brass army ID plate. The bodywork has been repaired where needed (quite a while a ago), including door sills and floor. All the parts are there such as seats, lights, bumpers roof new inside roof material etc. Unfortunately we're not sure what is a fair asking price and were wondering if anyone can give us an idea of a fair price for both seller and buyer……..Many thanks for any assistance! I've taken a few pics to give an idea of the car's current condition.
