Since neither of us had much experience with panels we got help from our friend Tony. All the panels were made up and new doors manufactured. I had moved house from Cambridgeshire to Cornwall at this point, so I jumped at the chance to get Thor transported back to Cornwall. since this all happened very quickly only the rear cab panels behind the driver and passenger were bolted on before loading on the lorry later that day.

Safely delivered to it's new home. No more restoration work has been done in the last year or so but Thor has been in use on winching and recovery jobs around the farm. I hope to start work again this summer and get the cab completed and the rest of the chassis repaired and painted before tackling the brakes which don't work at all.

Funny you should ask that mate. Just been measuring up today for a for a pole barn for Thor and two tractors (to keep mother-in-law happy 'cos it's her land!) Just need to cost it all out now and hopefully start clearing the site after GDSF. Been busy stripping the Discovery for a Land Rover sortout tomorrow, so although I've got loads of bits to fit to Thor I haven't done much and probably won't do any more until the shed is built. Look forward to catching up in a couple of weeks. Will sort some bits for you. cheers mate

One to make mr Fowler jealous. :-D Started Thor up today for a bit of a play before doing some more work in the next few weeks. We were expecting some lorries delivering hens to the farm to get stuck, so thought it would be a good idea to have him mobile just in case. My dad is having a test drive and declared the steering to be 'a bit heavy..' I'm terrible with a video so apologies for the ground shots whilst walking backwards.

I finally got round to fitting the new front brake hoses today too. The old ones were badly perished and not pretty. Thanks to Clive at Protruck for supplying the new ones at a very reasonable cost, which now make the rest of the lorry look a bit second hand. I'm determined to do more work over Christmas to get the restoration rolling again.

Andy

Ive spent to much time on putting production vehicles right when they have got

brake problems. where the fitters have not been consentrating and then wonder why the park brake won't come off. plus prototype airsystems engineer for my sins.

Aha. Very observant! Yes the hoses in the photo are the wrong way round. But have been changed back since. Thanks for letting me know though. Serves me right for chatting rather than concentrating on the job :n00b:

Just want to wish everyone a very happy Christmas. Thanks for all the information you've given me over the past year. I now have the time to get stuck in to the restoration again, so it will all be useful.:

All the best. Daz

Thought we might have had a change in the weather yesterday to repanel the cab, but no such luck. Still at least all the tools and bits for the job are ready to go. Next time it stops raining down here I'm determined to get it done :nut:

Hi Rob. Basically, no it didn't stop! I worked away from home 7 months of last year and each time I got back it p***ed down constantly. I got fed up to be honest so decided to cover the whole lorry up and leave it until I had more time. This has meant I have got the Land rover stripped and almost rebuilt ('cos it fits in my garage), but this autumn and winter I've got much less work on and I will be back on the Scammell with renewed enthusiasm. In the meantime I've been a bit of an armchair spectator :( Still it gives me hope when I see you and others getting vehicles back into good shape. I have been asked why I don't sell it, but I just can't do that. I may only make progress a bit at a time, but it IS progress! Certainly a couple of weekends work will see the cab panelled.

How's your repair job holding up? Cheers. Darren
