Rlangham
Having a struggle trying to identify this motorcycle used in the filming of 'The Blue Max' - i've ruled out Triumph model H, Clyno, Douglas and Phelon & Moore, i'm currently thinking BSA or Enfield? BSA's seemed to have a thick black ring several inches away from the tire inbetween the spokes though Cheers, Rob
79x100
Rob, the bike is not period or has been modified. Bikes of that era had either bicycle type stirrup brakes or used blocks working on dummy belt rims (the dark ring that you're referring to). The front brake in the picture is a good size internal expanding drum by 1920s standards. Flat fuel tanks were used up until the late 1920s and the fairly substantial crankcases of the ohv engine suggest to me that this is actually a post Kaiser war machine. Are there any other stills of it ? Rich.
