Mark Ellis
In an attempt to one day get better images of the Alvis FV600 sectional hulls, I've set up a group on Facebook to encourage people to share any images they have of Instructional or Sectioned military hulls. If you do have any images of such vehicles, do please share them by winging them this way. The group is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148269459635844 Instructional Stalwart, which apparently was at Shrivenham. The Detroit Locker (side to side) differential is the white ball in the black transfer box 😉 The Alvis Saracen Instructional hull, which was at ASMT Leconfield The Alvis Scorpion Sectioned hull, which I think is at Shrivenham.
Mk3iain
Interesting subject, hopefully all images will be on here as not everyone uses Facebook and it would be a shame to undermine this forum.
Mark Ellis
@Mk3iain the images might all get on here one day, but they're certainly not at the moment. Not quite sure as to why you think a Facebook group would undermine a web forum. There's many that never get outside of Facebook, the same as there's many who would never enter into Facebook - because it's the unknown wicked world of evil and temptation 😉

I also know folk who do use this and other forums purely as a source to feed the Facebook habit, many do not contribute to the forums. I think it is well known that Facebook is having a negative effect on specialist forums in general. Each to their own.

But I'll still use every resource available to gather evidenced fact for my website, especially compared to the utter tosh that gets broadcast on websites like Wikipedia and some of the books that have been published based on thought. There is much evidence still out there which has still yet to see the public light of day, and needs coaxing out into the daylight 😉 My site (which needs updating) is here https://sites.google.com/view/alvis-stalwart-hmlc-files

Still lots to be prised out of those &*&*s, who have clearly never heard of Russian and American spy planes and satellites 🙄 I now have contact with people who were involved with the Italian Stalwart in 1963, and Sri Lanka in the 80s. I'm struggling to get owners of Hydra cooking stands to give me the missing dimensions, despite some of them wanting the other dimensions so that they can make their own Hydra stands https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wdp7DGbzTXBPC3LP9MU-DObv0wXjwwPT/view?usp=sharing But most of the help has come through Facebook 😉 If you have any Eager Bever manuals, than ping them this way

wally dugan
This is interesting over the years the museum of army transport collected a number of instructional vehicles a eager beaver champ jeep and a few motorcycles plus a range of engine's were there photographs NO why because most were only displayed for a short time my idea was one day to have a space given over to them. The only photograph l know of is on this forum when the museum closed there is a shot of some of the engines in the storage area l have been looking for a photograph taken at Bovington at the RAC center among the instructional vehicles which has up to now not turned up Finally the subject though interesting l think not many people would bother taking pictures of these items Edited April 7 by wally dugan 1
fv1609
I've got some colourful pictures of sectioned Ferrets that I took at the D&M School Bovington about 30 years ago. I'll see if I can find them.

fv1609
These instructional artefacts can have intriguing colour schemes. They should be painted according to a strict protocol that I found in a driver training manual.

If I remember, it was an early (pre March 1942) Willys MB, with lifting rings on the front (I didn't see the back). I really coveted that vehicle (-: I wonder where it is now. Thanks for the memory, Best Regards, Adrian Edited April 8 by Le Prof
wally dugan
ADRIAN l had a young lady come to work in the workshops before going on to university with the plan to join the REME after doing a degree in engineering l gave her the project of overhauling the jeep and she did a first class job freeing off all the parts and colour coding the parts when she finished l the helped her power the the parts showing the firing order by stripping spark plugs and fitting small bulbs which light up when the engine rotated the drive train all could rotate and four wheel could be engaged all powered through a transformer 1

There was a battery connected to it, but I can't remember what

Proof of ID, age I presume. I can't recall if they also wanted something with address. I did not send so they closed / locked the account . I requested my record but they never sent. For some Facebook pages at the the latest few entries can be viewed without logging in. For others none. The latter total understandable if individual but not if a business, museum or similar. Based on what numerous people have said those who joined further back in time and have not attracted the attention of human or AI moderators have not subsequently been asked for ID. And also, any RGB / Hex codes for the colours. Many thanks
