Tony B
I think that we are be led off the rails. That looks rather like Chatham dockyard in the background, so is it an armoured train wagon?

Richard Farrant
Nope, but do you recognise this? [ Clive, It looks to be quite lightly armoured or perhaps an unarmoured prototype, the engine covers do not look very thick and evidence of the panels being bolted on. The multistorey buildings in left background, flats or barrack quarters (?), have the 1960's look so will say the picture dates from that era. I am going for some home grown vehicle from RUC. Would this be a photo from the new book on RUC vehicles, due out this month?? Richard

Richard Farrant
Wrong country but getting warm Hmmm......after studying the vehicles in the background, I now think them to be Renault Goelette trucks, thus making it the possibility of being some French type of armoured vehicle for internal security, etc.
Degsy
I thought the same Richard but couldn't find a pic of anything French although did find a couple that resembled it, although I know I've seen a pic of it somewhere before which made me think of the Irish connection. I can see it was a shrewd precaution to have masked out the other vehicles in the earlier posts as it would have given the game away too soon. Now what about a date anyone? and any ideas what the thing is? I have no idea at all! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v684/fv1620/Dscf3508.jpg[/img]
fv1609
Apparently the vehicle is circa 1935. But I don't know the date of the photo itself, I agree with others that the flats look very 1960s. Does anyone know the vehicle that this thing is based on? I have no idea at all. Tony B
Possibly Marmom Herrington? the French did a lot of experiments during the 20's 30's with various armoured vehicles.
