Doeas anyone recognise this dynamo end plate?  It is new old stock and has what looks like an MoD tag attached. 16E/6185   LU27 1552.

16E is an RAF Vocabulary Section for MT electrical items. I have a 1950s 16E at home and unlike most VAOS, it does give the vehicles that it fits. Will look tomorrow.

I think that this is for a starter motor judging by the two big copper contacts. The part number is a Lucas one (LU....)

Yes for a Lucas starter motor used in a wide range of vehicles.

Magic stuff guys, thank you!  I have it listed on eBay and have just had an offer from someone who rebuilds starters /dynamos for a living so it will be another lump out of my way thankfully. This downsizing business is not the way I've been brought up🤣
