N0VA Problems getting Hold of HMRC!

Recommended Posts

A couple of days ago, I imported a dodge command car from Italy. I had a Transport firm over there ship it for me. I paid the Import Tax & Vat required by HMRC.

To register in the UK, I understand I need a N0VA Cert from HMRC to do this?  Can I get in Touch with HMRC?... N0 By Phone? It tells me it is ' out of action due to tech problem's!.... Personally, I think this is a Lie, & they dont WANT to actually speak on the Phone. As it is much better to be not contactable. & then they can issue a fine for even M0RE Money. From People, so the Gov have More funds to pay the Monthly Hotel Bills. To Accommodate the ILLEGAL Migrants who Flock here!....

The Gov. Website is VERY unhelpful. & Call Me stupid. But I find it very confusing & difficult to contact the right department!...I just cant get in!...

As the vehicle was imported by the Shippers. & They handled the paperwork. In theory, HMRC Should know I now have the vehicle. & all Taxes HAVE Been paid. So, will DVLA accept the receipt invoice I have. Having paid these taxes to the shipping agent . So I can begin the process of registering my Vehicle?

I am getting concerned, as it states I only have 14 days t declare for N0VA. But I simply CANT get in touch with anyone at HMRC!

PLEASE can anyone assist Me on this Difficulty' with 0fficialdom?....

I once tried to make a suggestion on HMVF regarding such NOVA problem , that's what a forum is for - however a very rude member by the handle of  ' BROOKY '  cut me off , stating he was some obscure motoring club NOVA accredited specialist.  So - what do I know  ?   Most probably  BROOKY will appear here soon and resolve all issues in time.     On the time issue - officially the limitation is against yout , you now need to take effective action.  Myself - I would have my solicitor send a letter by Royal Mail  "Special Delivery"  a.s.a.p.    with original copies of all documentation.  Further explaining the story to date in full,  the snotty part being that you hold them 100% responsible and you will be also providing receipt for your legal £££ costs at a early date.

Looks like it's all done online now: Importing vehicles into the UK: How to import a vehicle - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If the import company are doing it, or you're a VAT registered company it can be done direct into the NOVA system.
Or if you're doing it the process is different

If you’re a non-VAT registered company or private individual

HMRC will make a NOVA application for you, but you will need to make an import declaration and send it to HMRC by email.

You can also get an agent such as a freight forwarder to make an import declaration for you. They may make the NOVA application for you as well.

Your vehicle needs to be added to the NOVA system before you can register it with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Email the following to the HMRC CARS team so that HMRC can make your NOVA application:

  • the C88/E2 customs documents for your vehicle (except if you brought your vehicle into the UK through the Channel Tunnel or by ferry)
  • the invoice or bill of sale for your vehicle, or a current valuation from a third-party such as a garage or dealership in the UK (it cannot be an online valuation)
  • any official document which confirms the VIN or chassis number of your vehicle (for example, a registration or title document, or an export certificate)

While I understand the frustration with customs and their lack of telephone contact, this post has nothing to do with immigration. Personal opinions on such topics conflict the forums 'Rules & Guidelines' , furthermore they cause division and normalise persecution of minorities and do not belong here.

Well, all copies of required Documentation Emailed to the department that deals with issuing N0VA's.

The automatic reply was they hope to process a N0VA within ten days!.... ( Providing all Paperwork is correct! )

So it's still Hurry up & wait Time!.....

UPDATE!

Well, this Morning, I FINALLY received the copy of My N0VA Cert!

What I found 'frustrating', was. The fact that I had had to repeatedly send the same Documents to different 'representatives' at HMRC!

It came across to Me. That it is entirely Possible these 'People' are 'working from Home'?... Because it was apparent they dont look at each others Computers? & quite possibly, no inter colleague communication! Hence asking for the same Documents. Sometimes More than twice!..... Which had resulted in an Unessacary drawn out 'Process'!..... :(

Still, I have the required doc now, & can begin the UK registration Procedure!

Would I import another vehicle into the UK again in a Hurry?......Er...N0!!!!!
