Meekumslr
Good evening all, I have an item that says ‘Cover, Muzzle No.48’. Its a U.S. cover. would anyone know what this muzzle cover would have covered? (The gun type before someone says ‘a muzzle’). many thanks in advance, Neil. MatchFuzee
What size is the cover? A photo could also make identifying easier.

MatchFuzee
Possible a 155 mm A WW2 heavy canvas, British Sherman gun Muzzle cover. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ww2-british-muzzle-cover-early-1826224536
Adrian Barrell
It's British, not US. As to what it fits, I'm not sure! It's not for 5.5" or 4.5" and the US 155mm gun and 8" howitzer used the US covers in British service. 3.7"? 7.2" How? That 'Sherman muzzle cover' is no such thing, it's just a mop cover for a pull through for 25 pdr.
