Pictures from Kemble...

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Kemble, spoilt a bit by the rain but met up with TootallMiike and Grasshopper. I took a few pics of the Sherman on my mate Jason Jefferies Rogers trailer pulled with an open cab Diamond T.

Jason's trailer won best in class at Kemble, very good for its first outing after its restoration, but then anyone who knows Jason's restorations will know they are absolutely first class and second to none.

As you may know Diamond Ts carried about 10tons of ballast in the rear box to give them more traction, not having the proper weights we put in a length of steel Sherman track and the original Chrysler multibank engine from my tank giving about 4 tons of ballast . At the show I asked TootallMike to lift the engine out of the back of the DT with his WLF and place it on the ground next to the Sherman as a bit of a talking point.

That outfit looks the "Mutts Nuts" even if I say it myself, anyway just like to thank Jason and his two assistants Geoff and Mark for looking after my old girl and bringing her back safe and sound and hopefully I will have my Mack NO and trailer finished soon to go with them on future trips..

Jim.

Hi Jim,

I'm glad someone got some photos of that! Grasshopper and I were eating lunch at about 15:30 at Reading services today when we realised in horror that we hadn't put the engine back on the DT . You obviously found someone to do it. Really sorry about that! It was good to meet you guys and have an excuse to play.

It was a great show and one to go back to next year with bigger toys. I'll post some photos later tonight if I don't fall asleep. The journey back to London in the Ward took 5 1/2 hours and it bucketed down all the way so I'm shattered :yawn2:

Saw this "bloke on a rope" last night at Kemble (think it was Militant Graham). I thought it was supposed to be for the kids to play with....

Had a great time and it was nice to meet some forum members. See you guys at Beltring.

Special thanks to Jim for letting me sit in his Sherman. Another wish to tick off the list!

It was good even with the rain it took four hours to get back to brighton the m25/m23 were like a river the two hitchhikers that i picked up at reading services were given a choice to have a lift in a champ with no side screens or wait the ghose to have a lift probably dryer than glastonbury
