What engine is this?

Markwise

Question

Hello all.

I have a 1942 Chevrolet Canada which is outfitted with a Diesel engine.

This was put in there in 1945 or 1946.

I am having some starter problems it seems. I am not sure what engine is fitted.

My guess would be Perkins, but i'm hoping someone here will recognize it right away!?

Thanks in advance!

You do not say if it is a 4 or 6 cylinder, but I think from what I see that it is a Bedford 200 or 220 diesel 4 cylinder as I have seen them in Chevy CMP trucks before. Definitely not done in 1940's. This is an engine from 1960's onward so a recent substitution. Show more of the engine to confirm.

It's 4 cylinder. i was told it was put in during the 40's. I also saw an ad on Milweb recently where a C15 was for sale which had a Diesel which was fitted in 1948. thats why i assumed it's a 40's engine... But if you could definatly identify it that would be great, thanks!
