Belgian Dave
Hello I have always been interested in military vehicles, along with all the other usual 'boys' interests (trains, aircraft, model making, emergency vehicles, etc). I have lurked around HMVF before, looking for information for model making, but a new project has made me take the step of actually joining the forum. Im researching my Grandfathers military history, and having got the basics figured out, im now starting on the Sherlock Holmes part of investigating little details, and making links between various bits of information. He was regular army before WWII, joining in 1936, and he had quite an interesting time. First he was Royal Tank Corp, then 1st Royal Tank Regiment in Egypt. He went on to be seconded to the Royal Engineers for work in Turkey, then back to 1st RTR for the push into Italy. Here he was injured and for the rest of the war stayed in the UK with the Royal Army Service Corp. During all this time he was a Driver/Mechanic. Look forward to looking more around the forum, and hopefully to discuss various questions with other forum members. David
robin craig
Dear David, don't lurk around, we are fairly friendly here, welcome. Where in Belgium to you live? Anywhere near the Tank Museum, do you have a rapport with them? Being a model maker is no crime, it is a grand hobby. Regards Robin
Belgian Dave
Hello Robin Im in the North of Belgium, so I think not so near the museum, if its the one in Brussels im thinking of (actually, nowhere in Belgium is that far away, its so small!!). Im moving back to the UK anyway in a couple of months, and then I will be just over an hour away from Bovington!
