Ivor Ramsden
In 1915 the Isle of Man raised £450 to buy an ambulance for the front. It was a War Office body built on a Belgian Metallurgique chassis with accommodation for eight patients plus driver and attendant. I'd very much like to find a picture of one of these to use in my forthcoming WW1 exhibition at the museum. Please can anybody point me to a picture or any other information about these vehicles? Runflat
Here's a typical example: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205315900 You can identify them by the pointed brass radiator and the horizontal handle on the bonnet sides. Ivor Ramsden
Thanks for that. I was struggling to find any photos because the car radiators seem to be of differing designs depending on the year. I was hoping somebody would come up with some pointers, and you have!
Runflat
Here are some more from my collection (not for reproduction); alas, I don't know the location of any of these views. The YMCA kitchen is from Motor Traction 24 March 1915.
Runflat
Using Google Images, the rear view appears to be at Woodford and Wanstead Military Hospital - now the Woodford County High School for Girls. http://www.woodford.redbridge.sch.uk/gallery/default.asp?pid=72&gcatid=6&albumid=
