Hi ya all - I'm in a bit of a dilema ... my grandad bought a K9 in the 50s and converted it to a recovery truck and used it up until about 10 years ago - he passed away in Feb and left the truck to me - it needs a few parts like rubbers for around doors and windows, wipers etc all small parts - my question is where would i go to find them - this is all new to me but i would like to leave the truck in pristine condition - i think it is something he would want, can anyone help?

Thanks

Paddy

Hi Paddy,

do you have any remains of the original rubbers? If yes, there are at least two ways you can go;

1 - go to a rubber specialist such as this one, http://www.portmererubber.co.uk/

2 - go to a classic parts supplier such as; http://www.frost.co.uk/rubber-seals.html

Hope this helps, and good luck with the K9, they're a great truck.

Thank you so much for your help - hopefully get this one sorted soon, if anyone has anymore info on the trucks i would be more than happy to hear - past experiences - do's and donts etc - this is all new to me but i am looking forward to restoring the K9 to its former glory!

On that note - would anyone have a layout of the gears ie high and low box lever and how to get into and out of 4WD?

Thanks folks

hi there, from memory...

The gears are a standard 1-2-3-4 H pattern on the long gearstick,

then the Shorter stick is Forward for 4wd, centre for neutral, rear for 2wd.

I don't think there is high and low? i have only driven mine around my yard so not used to it all yet!

good luck with finding all your bits, maybe try posting a wanted advert up on the k9 register website..

Go to the Baines site http://www.coh-baines.co.uk/ --you can download their catalogue from the home page which contains just about every rubber section you can imagine
