guykay
Anybody got any idea how you re-wire the original push fit electrical connectors. I have acquired a few tinned copper connectors & the bulbous rubber bit that pushes over the end after soldering on the wire. But there is no way on this earth that I can do this by hand. I guess there is a special pair of pliers or similar, but where to get one from?
Rangie
Hi, can we get a picture please? I think I know the ones you mean, I think the sleeves go on first and are eased on with pliers and lube. Alec.
Diana and Jackie
Slide the rubber boot over the wire, solder the connector, apply servisol silicon grease (maplin) to the rubber boot and the wire connector and slide on the rubber boot. If the rubber boot is old it may well have gone hard, which may make it difficult. New Connectors generally fit together easily. Also useful to pack silicon grease into the female connector, this will inhibit corrosion. Do not use petroleum jelly as its "petroleum" based and will damage the rubber Diana Anybody got any idea how you re-wire the original push fit electrical connectors. marvinthemartian
I've often found that if the rubber boot is hard, then soak in boiling water to soften it. Hold the soldered nipple terminal with a pair of pliers, and push /twist the boot over the lip.

marvinthemartian
New connectors can be bought from the X MOD http://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=5047 http://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=1282 They can also sometimes be found on Ebay too. Marmite, as far as I can remember those pliers are more for use on civvy vehicles of the 50's & 60's, Land Rover in particular.
