question different types of OD paint?

Hi

I have now got to the stage on my project where parts are being painted, whenstripping down I found several different shades of OD! I am currently usingFirwoods light olive drab synthetic (as sold by jeep parts) and I am getting onwell with it, but I wondered if anyone here has used this paint and how do theyrate it against other brands for usage, shade, coverage etc.

so what is your question is it good paint or it a good match for the colours you have uncovered

I used Hilhorst paint as sold by Wildenberg.

However I prefer the Terpentine dilutable version above the Thinner dilutable one.

There are several different shades of Olive Drab, and there is considerable variety of shade in the supply of those, plus many change colour over time.

 

Off the top of my head, you may be looking at US Olive Drab, British SCC15 olive drab (late war), BS381 Olive Drab (post war), Russian Forest Green, or NATO Green, or any of the other camo colours that are close to olive drab.

 

What is the project/period?

I have used RR Motors to match the paint on my truck

They matched the colour and finish perfectly and do great spray cans for touch ups

Worth checking out a local independent auto paint supplier as they can match a colour for you ( just take a sample along ).

 

can be a lot cheaper as I have found out .
