BSA WM20
Is it possible to work out the exact time of manufacture from the chassis number or does it only relate to the year?
Willyslancs
does it not have the original glove box plates?
BSA WM20
The glove box plate stamps look a bit clean for 67 years old so I thought I'd see if the dates are correct. Either they're new or have had the toothbrush treatment
Nick Johns
Is it possible to work out the exact time of manufacture from the chassis number or does it only relate to the year? Yes it is easy to date a chassis number to the month of production, lots of info on G503.COM The forum for ww2 Jeep, also recomend John Farleys excellent books, "The Standardised War time Jeep", in 2 volumes, vol 2 goes through month by month of serial numbers and the various changes in the manufacture

Pete Ashby
The G503 forum is the place to go. This is an excellent site packed full of detailed information, the trick is to use the correct sub forum and then work the search engine in that forum to narrow down the search. Don't the manufacturers have archives ? the answer to that is yes in part Tony, but they are not so easily accessed as the Chrysler archives particularly from this side of the pond. There are guys on the G503 who have spent a long time trawling production figures and have comprehensive data bases of information.
