Chris Chris, From my days of rebuilding these engines I think it is on the edge of the flange along lower edge of block, possibly near starter motor. I've now finally managed to track it down...stamped in the flange on the right hand side of the block just forward of the fuel sedimenter (under two layers of paint!). Chris.
