willysmb Posted July 24, 2012 Share Posted July 24, 2012 Ok, when Tony Sudds was around he did a "Ready to spray" paint straight from the tin and I think 5 lrts was enough to do a full jeep ..although I tended to use a bit more underneath the tub ( normaly a Cheaper OD with a Flash over of TS Matt 1 ). so probably 6 + lrts of O.D in total 2.5 to 3 lts of O.D with a about 10-15% thinners should do a jeep if your just Revamping her and not working from bare metal ..As for Red ox again I tend to put 2+ coats on Bare metal so again 6 lts but if your just painting the main body tub and preping over a good coat of OLD O.D you may get away with 2 ltrs.. The Garrison Posted July 25, 2012 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Using 2pac Primers and top coats you should never need any more than 2 litres of primer and 3 litres of top coat. With thinning and hardeners contained it makes a very large amount of paint. I have painted 2 jeeps with the same amount of paint on each. 2 Coats of primer/undercoat and 2 or three coats of top coat depending on the surface. With a dust coat just to finally deaden any shine and give it the very original 'painted outside the motor pool in 1942' look. These were being restored so everything, top, bottom,sides of tub, chassis, engine, trans etc. got painted In fact everything got painted ( the chassis several times) and was then screwed together. so a 5L can of each should be plenty Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
