  1. Converted several jeeps to 12 volts. I did not want to use Lucas parts so with some research found a modern electronic regulator that you can either hide in the existing regulator box ( so everything looks as standard) or just hide it somewhere else ( I find behind the air cleaner is a good out of the way place and you have to look hard to see it. Best thing is you get a good battery charge even at engine idle I now offer these as kits if anybody is interested http://www.kauto.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/43_54
  2. i have rebuilt two engine and used this manual, It is a modern reprint of many of the original manuals The Complete WW2 Military Jeep Manual by Us Army, Paperback, ( easy to spot is has a three colour cover with a blue band at the top, green in the middle and red at the bottom) Desciption from the listing "Comprehensive manual containing full information on how to maintain and overhaul the Ford and Willys Jeeps manufactured during WW2. Includes TM9-803, TM9-1803A, TM9-1803B, etc." currently on ebay from various sellers for about £20, well worth it in my opinion
  3. Hi I used 5 L of top coat and 5L of primer to paint two complete jeeps. These were being restored so everything, top, bottom, sides of tub, chassis, engine, trans etc. got painted In fact everything got painted ( the chassis several times) and was then screwed together. so a 5L can of each should be plenty
  4. Just stumbled across HMVF and figured it would be the right thing to do to join in. I have been playing with jeeps for about 15 years or so. Started with a M38 A1 kept that for about 5 years and sold it on to fund the purchase of a 45 Willys MB. In the last 3 or 4 years have been dabbling with buying, restoring and selling in my spare time. Certainly not getting rich but it is quite good fun and it buys the odd beer or two. At the moment my workshop is full of my own 45 MB, a 42 Ford GPW just finished and ready for sale and a pile of bits that one day will become another 45 MB, who knows when it will be finished, I have had it for about 2 years so far and it has not progressed much. well that is me, thanks for reading !
