Hi all

Am I correct in saying the Decontaminator on a jeep goes on the left (drivers side) wheel wing slanty piece if a pedestal mount is carried in the back?

Thanks

Paul

I have seen them there on restored Jeeps, but believe that they should be located under the front passenger seat. I think people put them on the fender just to show that they have one. In reality i cant think that i have seen any photos of war time Jeeps carrying a decontaminator. I shall have to go and have a look through my books to check.

We need to remember these were fitted in the field and not at the factory so I guess the location varies depending on the unit/individual who fitted them.the one in my hard cab GMC was fitted on the front of the seat riser directly behind the drivers feet.

Thank you guys for all the help. I think I will stick it on the right hand side for the time being. Just need to get a bracket from the Dallas dig out this coming Sunday.

Thanks

If you are looking for the correct place to fit it. The decontamination unit was held by a special bracket very similar to a fire extinguisher bracket. It mounted on the floor behind the right seat. The mounting holes for this bracket were already predrilled in the jeep body.

If my memory serves me correctly they were fitted in mid 44 to the end of the wartime to one in five jeeps. I'll check this though so don't quote me.
