theboyriley
Hello, I have recently bought my self a Mk1 Ferret. Im going to pick it up on friday but whilst it is free runnig it isnt able to run up the lorry under its own power (Yet!). I noticed what looks like lifting eyes above the spring mountings on each wheel. Are these for lifting the vehical or am i in for a push? Please help. haybaggerman
Hi congrats on your purchase!!! Yes, they are lifting eyes and it will weigh around 3.5 - 4 tons (depending on how much water is swilling around in there:) You could always put it into neutral on gearbox and transfer box and then use a winch or push. Toner
Hi, welcome to the wonderful world of ferrets. Ferrets could be picked up by the lifting eyes above the suspension. It might be safer, mind you, to winch it up the lorry (Unless you have a suitable crane etc handy) Do you have any info on your beast? theboyriley
Thanks, I'm quite excited!!!!! The lorry thats going to fetch it has a 50 ton hi-ab, I wasnt sure about the eyes though but if they are lift points then it should be fine. Its a 1952 Mk1. I have written the rest down but i can't find it. I'll post it up when it arrives.
Topdog
If that is the one with hull number 1 then well done. You will learn a lot getting all the jobs done. A historic Ferret that one.
