eddy8men:  I wont be going far - just the car park at the bunker!  I was thinking about doing a bypass job - assuming that is the trouble.  I doubt if I will be running for more than 15 mins at any time.

If you do attempt the bypass surgery can you let me know how it goes pls?  Photos would be great ;-)  I am sure more than myself would be interested.

If I get there first I will take photos too.

BTW have you ever seen the stainless part in my photos of 6.12.21 about 10 postings up?

i bought two this year a 436 and a 434 and both have failed gearbox heat exchangers. i'm going to bypass the heat exchanger and just return the oil to the box and see how the temps are. by the way the heat exchanger cools the gearbox, steering box, hydraulic fan drives and engine oil

It's a very common fault unfortunately, and of the four sections it's always the gearbox one that goes.  That suggests some sort of design fault to me.
