Good afternoon to you all

I have been advised by a current member of HMVF (Tony Pearson) that it would be a good idea to join the forum and introduce myself.

My name is Andy Sutherland and we have recently bought a house in Normandy. Some of you may know it already, Ivy House situated directly behind Utah Beach. Ivy House is only five minutes walk from Utah Beach and we offer self catering accommodation and bed & breakfast accommodation. We bought the house and business from Steve and Sarah Lee in September 2010.

I am English and I am married to a French woman. We have three (almost four) children and we decided to up sticks and live in Normandy. My wife found it hard to settle in England and I promised her that we would move back to France one day. That day came and now we find ourselves in Normandy.

I am not a reenactor or military vehicle owner; however, I am very much interested in the history of the war. I am in awe of the work and commitment that re-enactors and vehicle owners put in and we would love to welcome you to our new home. Whilst this may sound like a cheap plug for our business, we see it slightly different. We want to do our bit to keep the memory alive of what happened in this area all those years ago. That is why we actively encourage people from this scene to visit our home.

We would like to offer any re-enactors or vehicle owners a 10% discount on our prices. I would also like to share a few beers and listen to your stories! If you would like to stay at our new home, then please do not hesitate in contacting us.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Regards,

Andy and Emma Sutherland

Welcome to the forum from a Lancashire bloke. I regularly visit the Somme but I have promised myself a trip to Normandy one year so thank you for the information about what looks like a very attractive and interesting place to stay. Cheers.
