plainmilitary
Hello peeps, Over the last few weeks or so I have been playing around with my Bro's metal detector. Although not found anything in the way of gold or coinage I have found crude lead cast ingots and a button. The 1st picture is of the button I found, A few moment later and a few feet away Yogi found a lead Musket ball, could they be conected in any way? The next picture is one of Shaggys finds. Have noticed it has the same crown or Coronet, and ideas chaps. Right this one we think we know, its a Wiltshire yoemanery button. If pos could anyone give me a ball park date, the crown to me looks Victorian. This last picture I think is non Military but a very nice piece all the same. Any ideas? All the buttons have been found in the same field along with the Musket ball and what we think could be a powder charge thingie. Any help would be greatfully recieved. Many thanks. BIGREDONE
I think some of them might be "livery" buttons as I have some that look the same, I will have to check. Anyway check out this site as it may help you. http://www.goldenagebuttons.co.uk/livery.html Paul
