Poptopshed Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Might be of interest to people on here. Mine test of a 432 and some nice high speed pictures. http://www.sjhprojects.com/gallery.php?tag=MillbrookAFV Quote
Toner Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Poor 432 ;-( but hopefully it will help protect the guys who have to use them for real. Quote
fadedsun Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Driver is dead, passengers got their bells rung pretty good. Quote
fadedsun Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 This is the problem inherent with all current types of tracked vehicles-Mines disable and kill them pretty easily because of that metal band that goes around the bottom of the vehicle that mines are very good at breaking. Quote
plainmilitary Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Wheels dont fair much better, where is our choppers....... Quote
Adam Elsdon Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Dont really understand why they are testing a vehicle in its 1967 looking spec, arent they using an upgraded version these days? Quote
sirhc Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I think it was done to demonstrate the companies capability to do these trials, rather than test the 432 itself. Quote

recymech66 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Wheels dont fair much better, where is our choppers....... Choppers are great for re-supply and casevac but they are not ground holding battlewinners. Quote
HeathJr Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Helicopters are far more vulnerable, relatively un-armoured, expensive, require a long and complex logistical chain and require experienced pilots and ground crew. Quote

Resupply and casualty evacuation are battlewinners, and so is CAS. Dont really understand why they are testing a vehicle in its 1967 looking spec, arent they using an upgraded version these days? On the bottom the vehicle is the same....a plain, flat steel bottom. Quote

They are not battlewinners in the same respect as Armour and ground troops, they cannot take and hold ground, yes AH can destroy and disrupt the Enemy but ultimately you need boots on the ground. The choppers most people are crying out for are heavy lift, we probably have enough AH and fast jets to support the blokes on the ground. Quote
