Jessie The Jeep
Here's a selection of pictures from the DLI Museum event, hosted by the Museum and the North East Military Vehicle Club. Around 60 vehicles were booked in ranging from push bikes to present day stuff, with a good selection in between. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/dli1.jpg The weather was kind to us and the rain held off until after we were back home ( only an 11 mile drive for me ). Day two normally sees a few different vehicles, so I'll be back tomorrow with some more pics. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/dli2.jpg Amongst the vehicles there was an Austin K2 Ambulance, found around 2001 in a very poor state, which had been rebuilt over about 7 years and now looks like it just left the factory. Marmite!!
Nice photos... do they supply the wheel chocks or do you have to bring your own:confused:
Jessie The Jeep
Chocks were provided by the NE MVC, although a few people who regularly attend brought their own! I'm a smooth talker so I got parked up on the flat

Jessie The Jeep
Cheers! Here's a few more from today. The weather wasn't as nice, despite the forecast saying it was to be the better day. Never believe a word they say these days! So here we go. What do you make of this Chevy? Ever seen one before? know what they were used for? Edited September 5, 2020 by Jessie The Jeep
Jessie The Jeep
Next a selection of two wheeled transport. Last year, one keen cyclist rode his vintage pedal cycle to the event from York! I think he got a lift this year! Jessie The Jeep
Ken, from our own Durham & Tees Valley area went to run his generator trailer on the back of his Humber Wireless truck. It hadn't run for two years since we were at the Ursel show in Belgium, so took a little encouragement to get the priming pump to pull the fuel through. That was after Ken topped up the tank, as the trailer was parked on a hill and the engine feed was at the uphill end of the tank! After much fiddling, the primer came back to life, and the genny was started, breaking the quiet for miles around! By the sound of it, Ken could jump start the Space Shuttle with it The big grin in the second picture is just after the generator fired up! Jessie The Jeep
Last two, some more post war. Landy, Daf and Trekker. Despite a dull day, we didn't get rained on until prize giving at the end of today. Tony B
The chevy had two uses in the US military, an ambulance...and...a hearse! I've got the details somewhere I'll look them up.
Jessie The Jeep
The owner did suspect it was a hearse.
Bodge Deep
More likely coroners/military or civvy rather than hearse as such... No windows Mind most 'car based' delivery vehicles of that period looked much the same
Degsy
Bart mentions them as ambulances.
