  1. A trailer was used. Possibly the bloke was picked up on a NRC for no tax/MoT and the rig is now in a Police compound. It has been reported to the Police. Fingers crossed.
  2. A photo of the Dodge innquestion. Note name on mudguard and Norwegian style tyres. It is hoped at this stage, this will turn out to be an innocent mixup, but if anyone spots or has any information, please let me know as the new owner is understandably very worried as anyone would be in this situation!
  3. Sorry......original now corrected. Thanks!
  4. Just posting on behalf of someone on the Dodge WC 54 forum:. He was having his WC54 transported from Beccles to Belgium and since the pick up on 6 February, the bloke who collected it has gone AWOL and not answering calls. His Mitsubishi pick up truck, reg HX56DMU is indicated to have no current tax and MoT. Sounds worrying. The WC 54 is registered as 799YUL and has "Betty Boop" written on a mudguard/ fender. Any sightings or sales of WC54 or bits is worth checking.
  5. Alec, after searching fruitlessly in several locations, I have at last found the aforesaid carrier and flask. Photos attached. The carrier looks unused, dated 1945 and has carry straps so is complete. The glass vacuum inner of the flask is gone (I broke it....grrr) but it has its three ally food containers which also look unused. The number stencilled on the flask is I think the Part No as the food containers are inscribed with the same number +1. Its possible the flask is an aircrew issue one........I dont know.......but it fits the carrier. (Coke can for scale!) Ferg
  6. What about using "Weapons/Accessories"? After all, this site is about vehicles, primarily. Not re-enacting. Its a good topic, though.
  7. And here is that Lightweight at War and Peace back in 2008/9?, freshly spruced up, complete with original door insignia.
  8. Hi, Alan! As your "PO" in question, it was great to read of your experience! It would be good to get some in-service photos; perhaps there is an ex-RA facebook site, or similar that you could post on? When I got the Landie it was looking very tired, but mainly cosmetics and usual suspension wear points and it took me a few months to strip off the layers of old paint, then re-paint in exactly the camo pattern it had. It was when stripping that I found the insignia and again, I repainted that as per the original. I had always hoped someone would recognise it and you struck lucky! I keep my eye out for you and the truck at shows. All the best. Ferg
  9. Or does "Tower" mean a tank top? These should all have been banned years ago!
  10. Regulations such as these do not have EU-wide application.......and will, per se, not have. EU Directives DO have EU wide application but set out general principles on things like safety and security that each member country addresses in detail in its own laws. Of course, the German regulations do set a precedent that has to be guarded against, which is where lobby groups like MVT come in to ensure common sense and fairness applies when evangelising (vote/glory seeking) politicians latch on to such daft ideas. After all, the UK is suffering from a major wave of violent crime perpetrated by armour vehicle-driving hoodlums, isn't it? Oh no, wait, its not.......its thugs stealing softskin JCBs that are ripping out ATMs, etc.!! Ban JCBs!
  11. Thanks for the offer, Paul, but another contributer found me a couple of ratty doors that made one good one! Cheers!
  12. Its probably worth -£5000, ie thats what the owner should pay you to take it away.......if you really wanted to restore it and not lose money at resale. Its a money pit, but then if you WANT to restore it for the satisfaction, who cares? Whats it worth as a donor truck? Probably a good place to start (unless it has a rot free body.....that would be unusual).
  13. Cooo.....£3,300 for what looks to have ended its running days as a bitza field bike!
  14. Agree, Ron! "Mountain Men" is another so-called reality show with plainly contrived suspensful events, but the basic ingredients of scenery and life in the bush plus genuine snippets of real information are worth savouring.
  15. My Dodge is not ugly; its bliddy ugly!! (Or was TBF....resto' continues with IJM).
  16. Its being restored so, it will be old, ugly and rolling! A bit like me, funnily enough.......
  17. Probably something to do with the 75 year commemoration of Overlord in Normandy with every man and his dog heading over there with an MV or three! So good sellers market at present that will likely turn to a buyers market once all the enthusiasts have returned to Blighty and beginning to wonder if they would rather have cash than an ugly old Dodge! BTW, there is a Canadian/Danish WC52 on Milweb at present that looks like it needs a tidy, but price may be reasonable if nothing major is needed.
  18. Biding your time until after June next year may well be wise re choice and prices.
  19. Why dont you try some of the usual suppliers of military canvas? Check out Milweb or CMV if you don't know any. They will have made up side screens. I sold my MW a couple of years back and it had new side screens with the old ones retained, but dont have new owners contact details, sorry.
  20. Sye wotherloik, but ee probly duz morn anyuvver geezer to bring in the punterz to see arr clobber an genrilly popyoolaroiz arr obbee . Dunnee? Gits moi vote evree toim. Innit. Muss go; jus seen a genyoowine Waffen SS toasting fork...........ow much?!! Eeemussbeavinalarf!
  21. Just read about the BoB film in the current edition of "Britain at War". The flight of Hurricanes in the film was composed of the only three flying planes they could scrape together, augmented by a bunch of the Buchon "Me 109s! Must have another look at the film and check! Plus these days, the models and mock ups they used do look pretty feeble.....but do not spoil an excellent film of course. I will reserve judgement on "Hurricane" until I see it.......it does not have to be very good to eclipse "Dunkirk".......IMHO! [Lets not start THAT one again!].
  22. Checked again and found the form. Ordered. He has a LOT of documents! Thanks for the reminder.
  23. Thanks for that. I know Rob; he does not seem to have one listed but will ask him. Meantime, if anyone has an original, pse let me know.
