  1. While on the topic of Korean issue uniforms, I picked this Jungle hat up on Sunday at the local carboot, I think the badge (48/58) is for the Northamptonshire regiment, with a Bantam/Cockerel badge on the other side, which appears to put it in the Korean theatre of operations, I'm not so sure though that the curtain cord is a period attachment ? The 48/58 badge is held on by 4x pressed studs/poppers. Any thoughts anybody ? Thanks Gary
  2. Hi, front forks look like they are from a Zundapp or DKW, tank also looks like DKW, front wheel is off of Me109 (tail wheel) by the looks of it. Regards Gary
  3. At the bottom of my garden, is a short length of Churchill track, it was recovered from Hythe ranges about 12 years ago, when the area was being cleaned up. A very good friend of mine was tasked with collecting the scrap from this job and they collected many tons of this track, which was buried and laid in lengths when found. I received a phone call from him asking if I'd like a piece of tank track, as they were taking it from site direct to be melted down, little did I know how big a piece it was or what it was from. It shows sign of damage from some form of ordanance (they had cut me a piece from a full length, that to quote "looked liked it had seen some action"). I also remember being told by him, that in previous years, the 1970's early 80's, that he had been offered complete range tanks, but due to where they were sited, they were not economical then to recover and scrap and also the quality/type of metal they were constructed from had a very low value (non magnetic steel possibly ?) and was not worth the gas to cut them up. Anyway pictures attached of my piece of track. Regards Gary

  6. Hi Nick ref the pump, have a look at this link, a word of warning though, make sure your sitting down first ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200524931294&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2801wt_1139 Best Regards Gary
  7. Hi Nick it certainly looks as though it had just come out of storage/unissued, interesting to see the push through pedals in black finish, as are many of the parts, where you can see black just visable beneath the green. I've not seen before the springs clips that are on the seat tube stem, looks as though they might have helped support the tyre pump maybe ? any chance of a close up photo of them ? What's the frame number ? Best Regards Gary
  8. I think the capture and subsequent battle for Pegasus Bridge , would be the one to go for ! Regards Gary
  9. Anyone any ideas what this might have originally been, sorry there is only one photo at the moment, I presume torsion bar type suspension, draw bar fitment, it is looking for a good home if anybody is interested. Regards Gary
  10. Hi Bill thankyou for your reply. Regards Gary
  11. , it stands about 24" inches high, most of the transfer label is missing unfortunately. Thanks Gary
  12. Found this box at the caboot sale this morning, label to the front says "LEWIS GUN AMMn", any ideas, it measures 8 3/4"x 8 3/4" x 6" deep, is this big enough to hold 2x Lewis Gun drums, it obviously bolted to a vehicle or something ? (Early tank or Armoured car). It has the appearance of 1914/18 or early 1920s manufacture about it ? Regards Gary
  13. Hi Tony, it's not very clear in the photos, but the canvas at the front of the trolley is in a bad way, due to being stood in the upright postion on a damp barn floor over the years, the rest is pretty stable so I will check out your recomendation of the Nikwax treatment. I guess that there is about 30% of the original paint finish, so after freeing off the clamp nuts, I will probaly remove as much rust as possible and treat with wax or possibly the rust inhibitor that drys clear. Regards Gary
  14. Any chance of a close up picture of these cans ? Thanks Gary
  15. I think for now, I will only clean off the dust and straw, I feel for the time being it's best left as it is, I think also I will free off the clamp nuts, so that it can be stored easier. Here's one more shot of the underside. Regards Gary
  16. Looks very much like a "Normandy" barn find, the early cans with X in them should be pre or early wartime German ones ? Regards Gary
  17. Not sure if this really is the proper catagory for this, but it has wheels and it's British. I was asked to do a display of militaria at a local fete last weekend, it clashed with the armour & embarkation event, which I had thought about going to with my Matchless for a bit of DR work, but the fete organiser had asked first and so I was committed to the fete. During the afternoon, an elderly gentleman approached me and asked if I would like an "old army folding wheelbarrow", an exchange of phone numbers took place and this evening a visit was paid to a farm near Thame to pick up the folding wheelbarrow. Stood in the corner of this chaps barn (next to old farm machinery and tractors) was a Airborne Folding Trolley ! As the photos show, it's in poor condition, but now it will be treated to a bit of a clean up, TLC and preserved. The chap remembers his father bringing the trolley home, he thinks about 1946/47, but not where it came from. Regards Gary
  18. Hi, all you need is to cut one from a piece of cork sheeting, as a great number of them are made from this. Regards Gary
  19. Hi Brian as Morris c8 has said in post 3 there are front and rear shots, I am still working my way through all the photos and there are more in there of these early beetles. I also have a ATS photo album which has several good close up shots of beetles in British Army use. Regards Gary
