  1. Not strictly a military issue wheel barrow, but something I picked up at a local auction, here in Oxfordshire, can you identify the military part ? Regards Gary
  2. Hi Ian is there an impressed letter and number in the lid ?, like B.175 or something similar ? If so check the link below and you should be able to find what it was originally made to hold. http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/27615-Consolidated-List-Of-Containers Regards Gary
  3. Your welcome Ian, I must admit from the photos, I didn't think they would be WW1 era, very nice and rare finds ! Regards Gary
  4. Hi, on the ends where the rope handles are, you might find stamped on the bottom edge of the box a date and manufacturer, this is a common place to find marks on British ammo boxes etc. Regards Gary
  5. These photos were on ebay recently (top three photos only), I thought they might interest the GMC owners here. Regards Gary
  6. I have been involved with a War Memorial display, this Armistice weekend, I set aside one of the display tables to pay a small tribute to our "Corporal Jones". ALL of the public that came today, passed comment on it. Along with his fellows actors he leaves us with pure Television Gold, in the "Dads Army" series. Thankyou Corporal Jones Gary
  7. Due to reading this debate, the following caught my eye at the weekend in a pile of 1970's camping equipment at the local carboot sale, bought for the princely sum of £3, a PATT 44 1965 dated cup and unmarked bottle. Regards Gary
  8. Picked this up this morning at the local carboot, seller said it was her husbands, he'd served in the Army late 70's to late 80's and that was all that she knew. Alterations are sewn on 68 pattern hood, cuffs and elbow pads, all alterations are professionally done. Regards Gary
  9. Managed to dig out a bag of odds and sods today, as the pictures show found 3x green PLCE shoulder holsters and an extra shoulder strap (fully marked), also a camo one for camparison. One is identical to yours Mark, the other 2x are unmarked, the difference being the fold over flap (see fourth photo), you can see a stitched square on the flap, which appears to be padded. Of the 2x unmarked holsters, one has a paper label attached (see last photo). Regards Gary
  10. Hi Steve if you contact the W&P people, they will forward your details to who ever was on A45. Regards Gary
  11. I've been sorting through a job lot of clothing I bought last year and the following was amongst the items, appears unissued. Regards Gary
  12. Hi Ian it looks very much the style of the German WW11 50 gallon fuel can, is there any writing stamped on the ends, I can't seem to enlarge the photos to tell ? Regards Gary

  16. Hi Steve the hub caps are just visable in the third photo, to the left of the blue wheel, there are no markings on them. Regards Gary
  17. Hi, a work college has aquired the following items, with a view to selling them and asked me if I might know what they are from, I can only tell him that they are from a 1920/30's truck, but I thought that I might show them here, to see if anyone has any ideas. The blue wheels (there are two of them), have 7.00x20 tyres and are from the axle, there are also three rusty ones, with 6.50x20 tyres (these are in poor condition). Thanks Gary
  18. Hi Mel I have two of the early twin tube models, one of the very first batch, frame number 1400 (with the angle iron brackets and not the later cast brackets, where the bike folds) and the other, frame number 9000 something and both of these still had traces of the original green paint, I have about 9/10 bikes, in various conditions and I never yet seen one with any traces of brown paint. Does anybody have a bike with original brown paint finish ? Regards Gary
  19. I have been sorting through some uniforms and equipment I bought last year, and the jacket below was amongst the items, it has a paper price label with the following on it "Falklands F/W Reversable Grn White Smock, as I intend to do a few local fetes, where I have exhibited some of my Militaria collection in the past, and with this year being Falklands 30th anniversary, I wondered if this would be appropiate and accurate to display ?, is there any photographic proof these were used during the conflict or would it have been produced for use post conflict. It is named inside the hood "Stone" and in both sleeves "778 PB-S", there appears to have been a label by the zip (see close up photo), but nothing else. Some of the white finish is flaking off. Regards Gary
  20. I picked these up on Saturday, can't find any identifying marks, are they WD issue ? Thanks Gary
  21. I bought this smock pictured below along with some British 1960's combat jackets and other clothing from a carboot sale a couple of years ago, I thought when I saw the smock with the other items, that it was a modern 1960's mountaineering smock (it was inside out and all screwed up). The chap was selling his late fathers British army uniform/kit (his father served from the mid 50's through to the late 60's), and when I asked him if he had any other items, he said that he had a pair of German army binoculars that his uncle had brought back from the war (which were in the suit case with his fathers army kit), but those he was going to keep as they brought back memories as a child when they would go round to his uncles and the uncle would get out a German kit bag, which had 2x helmets, badges, bayonet, belts and some uniforms (all German souvenirs), and let him play with the stuff. When the uncle died, this chaps dad, had cleared the house, and brought this kit bag home with him, sadly as children do, most of the other stuff disappeared over the years and the binoculars were all that he had left. He told me the uncle had returned injured from Normandy in late August/September and due to his injuries left the army at this time. The smock is a WW11 German snipers smock and I only got it, because the seller said take the suitcase and contents for £15, I was only going to take the 2x combat jackets originally, until he said take everything as a job lot ! Best Regards Gary
