Indeed Trevor, those Mich tyres definitely grip your ribs & back getting under there. Space for taking the wheels off is limited unfortunately. Is well worth it when the fresh paint goes on. The refurbished jerry can holder & oxy cabinet missing from the top deck are almost ready too. Regards

Managed a few more hours today, not far from finishing this section. Hopefully plenty more work next week. Militant ended up shedding plenty of rust today.

Hello all, First time at this show, we went as an 'older' family and were very impressed. Only 1 hours drive from us so a nice easy journey down the M1. We thought the entry price of £8.50 on the gate very reasonable, 432 ride £5 (unless you entered and won the raffle at £1 a ticket). Especially enjoyed the pyro displays. The mix of vehicles nice to see, especially the heavy armour not always seen at some shows. Fish & chip van did tasty £3.50 trays. Found the toilet facilities ok and the general layout of the site was well thought out from a visitors perspective. I hope to attend this show next year with a finished militant. Regards, Nick -

Very smart combination, had you driven across a field at some point? -
Working my way round the o/s/r suspension & under body. What a difference a needle scaler & red oxide makes.

£130?!!! Must have been a painful examination in more ways than one -
Had a quick search but that may remain a mystery

See here http://www.jedsite.info/transport-mike/mike/militant_series/militant-series.html what a beast this must have been, could do with air con in mine. Bottom image has this caption but appears to be different to the top photo, seemingly same FV number though... "FV11061 Armoured Command Vehicle, A.E.C. 6 x 6 - 150 Built between 1943-44 and still in service in BAOR till the late 1960'sThese vehicles had a more roomy working compartment, equipped with radio sets, typewriters and map tables, while the earlier 4x4 was more of a 'radio shack'"

Thanks Mash, do you know if that was done only in theatre and was it locally (REME?) made? -

Did it look like armour close up John? -
Managed a couple of hours after work this afternoon. Needle gunned another wheel rim (just visible above the shadow), top side locker, foot step area & step. Whilst putting the new, and last ever, tax disc in I found what I assume to be some previous owners of the truck in South Yorkshire if anyone knows them? Decided to display it in the vacant disc holder.

This vehicle now at Crouches? -
Just found this thread, what a great truck, nice conversion. We have a twin deck Daf LF 7.5t at work which is maxed out with two vw caddys on the back & handles like a boat around the slightest of corners. Head office now looking whether to build 12t slide with spec lifts as replacements but this then limits their use to Class 2 only drivers.

Hello Juddy thanks, sort of yes - it cuts straight through even the most stubborn paint & rust and will even flatten old stubborn screws/small bits of metal if required - very useful tool. See here for the more modern version by CP http://www.cp.com/images/cp7115_en_tcm285-3509046.pdf regards

Hello Scott, cannot find a copy of the fire one, only seen the clips on YouTube. Whereabouts in Staffs are you? Was travelling past Uttoxeter a week or so ago and saw small signs for a local truck show?
