  1. Thanks Simon, will post some more progress today. Do you know what colour (BS code etc) yours was? Looks good & I am tempted to replicate on mine when I finally finish the red oxide. It took me 6.5 hours to drive mine back from Horsham to Derby. Luckily I had read on here somewhere about taking ear defenders. Another Foden pic I found
  2. ...just remembered I saw that on milweb not so long ago.
  3. Excellent Simon, thanks. Is the Mily yours too?
  4. I'm lucky enough to have a large transport depot behind where I work so can work on the truck most days, weather permitting! Fingers crossed the running costs won't be too much with the right care & my works contacts (I'm an hgv maintenance manager). If it was on Milweb then it may be one I have seen before it went to Dave Crouch's. Very clean if so.
  5. Off Instagram http://www.boarhunt.co.uk/rescue-recovery/spectacular-jobs/
  6. Bit of a hair raiser for the driver of that white car!
  7. Hello Adrian, more excellent photos-not heard or seen the SRTE vehicles before, sounds like a proper boys toy :cheesy: If you navigate back to the main forum and click on Restoration Blogs you should see one called 87 ET 77 Militant on the first page-that's mine which I am slowly working on. I have yet to find any service info about it, contacted REME but no results-will try RLC next. If you Google image search the civilian rev BHH 34J there are some historic post service photos. Regards
  8. What a shame, I visited in early 2002. Similar article; http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/11147815.Woolwich_Firepower_Royal_Artillery_Museum__set_to_leave_borough_by_2017_/?ref=mr
  9. I can remember how bumpy the ride was, my brother and I got to ride in one around the JCB test track in 1995. Would have been hitting the roof save for the seatbelts! interested to see more photos as & when...
  10. Thanks Adrian, always nice to see them in service . Would like to see this manoeuvre you and someone else has mentioned about using the rack to extricate the truck. Saw this Foden DROPS today at the AEC rally in Newark alongside a Mily. Noticed the wheels on the back of the rack.
  11. Any photos you can share from your time on Drops? And did you find any issues... regards nick
  12. Good video, is it difficult to line it up & pick up correctly?
  13. Done a bit more on the Militant this week and have acquired a Swindens vice for the rear vice mount from a chap called Bryn in Loughborough. He has a ready & varied stock of restored & unrestored vices of all sizes. If you need one please pm me for his number.
  14. I get what you mean now Terry, are they easy to come by the insp lamps? Thanks Iain, should be enough to build a replica unless someone has one spare. Thanks Cosrec. Regards Nick
  15. Looks close enough if not the same from the manual to the one that fits to the rear of the crane control box Terry, plugs in to both there & the dash board if required. That will be its use anyway. Regards Nick
  16. Few more bits done whilst the sun was out; 1. Tidied up the wiring for the new Britax beacon. 2. Continued with the red oxide. 3. Checked operation & lubricated the spade anchor - is this meant to drop under its own weight without the hydraulics engaged? With them engaged it appears to move up & down fine, hydraulic oil needs topping but is not drastically low. Also, does anyone have any photos they can post or email showing the interior rear section of the cab please? What I assume to be a radio mount & battery box directly behind the engine cover & passenger seat have been removed in mine. Any measurements would be appreciated too. Many thanks.
