  1. Couple of photos I took at the same event of your very smart truck, that jib is a monster Regards,
  2. Anyone remember this? Still have it on VHS (and the construction one). Think this sparked my interest in mv's when I was a kid. Chieftain - king of noisy vehicles in the shed.
  3. From today, fingers crossed for more good weather tomorrow
  4. Just had the V11 Tax reminder through and it has taken me less than 2 minutes via my iPhone to renew the free RFL duty for 12 months. stage 3 of the process asked me to confirm exemption from testing & plating and I only required the 11 digit number from the V11 for the process - quick & easy.
  5. Progress been a little slower this last two weeks, hopefully get some more time on it soon...
  6. What a great & different event to attend, looked good.
  7. Went to this show today, overall MV numbers seemed to be about the same, hopefully get the Mily there one day.
  8. Had a restriction on access times imposed so progress has been a little slower this week, especially with the random weather. Removed the the old chevron boards to reveal more surface rust than usual on & around the stabiliser leg cylinders so removed all that & am edging my way around the off side now...
  9. No other plates hiding on the chassis with such details?
  10. Does anyone know what type of radio/intercom this is? Missing from my militant.
  11. Hello all, Are any of you on Instagram? A shot of mine is below. I have worked out this hashtag business and have marked any MV photos with '#hmvf' so any user can search and find them. i find the filters quite useful as they can brighten a dark image etc. Regards Nick
  12. An eventful afternoon when it stopped raining and the sun came out. A nut used to secure an olive to an air pipe slipped from my Dad's fingers and found its way straight down the nearest drain. Drain cover completely jammed shut so had to use the crane & ratchet strap to open it. Then the nice task of sifting through all the junk to find it, which we did. Air pipe then fitted correctly & more needle scaling and red oxiding took place.
  13. Enjoyed it, could have been seen as stuffy to general public without those characters regards nick
  14. Hello RadioMike, Unfortunately yes it is, thus far I have used Wickes Red Oxide on the N/S body but swapped to the deeper red of Johnstone Leyland paints (5 litre £45.71 vat incl). I have made sure the coating is as thick as it can be without spoiling the finish and have been lucky so far with some areas exposed for up to 4 weeks. http://www.johnstonestrade.com/product-range/product.aspx?product=Quick_Dry_Zinc_Phosphate_Primer I plan to acquire https://www.cromwell.co.uk/MTL9845110K unless I find something more suitable. Iain, If only it could live in that workshop! Usually lives out front. I have my works workshop two next door when this one is busy. Regards, Nick
  15. Fuel sender rewired & fitted back, dash gauge now works. rear red oxide almost completed
  16. Hello Smithy whilst you were there last year I was at Wicksteed which was really good. This year however I may take the militant to this Belper show. Regards nick
  17. Hello all i work for a large vehicle rental company and we have recently completed our driver cpc course via our ex army Jaupt approved instructor. The business decided to put everyone with any form of hgv entitlement through the course whether that be grandfather rights on C1 or those with C&E like myself whether driver, manager or director. The instructor, when not training cpc, sorts out the logistics for the company so being 'one of us' rattled through the content which he varied and spread over the last three years. I would not like to have had to cram all the training into one week though, even so some people were caught napping in class! Did I learn anything new? Very little, it seems that in common with a lot of h&s training it is trying to teach common sense. The section on tacho hours vs working time directive was particularly mind boggling. I now carry a cpc card to go with my driving licence photo card & digital tacho card to prove I can drive HGVs to & from our customers, pity they cannot combine two or all of them into one card. Regards Nick
  18. More work over the weekend; More red oxide on the recovery gear, this section taking ages Adjusted up the rear brakes aside from one which the adjuster is seized Found air pipe broken which we think feeds air assistance for handbrake Fuel tank sender removed as dash gauge inop
  19. Sounds exactly like my experience Jules, looks a nice truck
