  1. Right to start some not so green machines this is an Albion (1930`s)?
  2. Hi Jack, i went, and i enjoyed it even though i think there are a few problems the organisers may have to sort out. But me i`ll love to go again. Pictures to follow. Ashley
  3. Hey Guys, dont get me wrong... i intend to drive to most shows but there are one or two i would like to attend further afield. This is when i would use the trailer, and of course when talking over a suspected problem some guys who are good enough to help usually prefer to have the vehicle on thier `own turf` so`s to speak. Hi jack you can count me in. Ashley
  5. Hi all, for the longer journey`s i have now acquired a trailer to put the jeep on. Do any of you guys have expirience in the best way to strap one down, the pintle hook is an obvious place but i am more concerned with the front of the vehicle. Any ,advice, tips ?????? Ashley
  6. Hi all, i know this clashes with Kemble, but who here are attending Tankfest this year. Are you a vehicle exhibitor or part of the living history groups ??? the jeep and i have just just waiting for conformation. Ashley
  7. Hi all, it was (and i belive still is ) very common for military gear to be buried on ite rather than transport it back home. Ford i belive offered to make military vehicles for the U.S. and its allies stating that if it was sent overseas it should not return home (hence the number of U.S. vehicles in Europe after the war (he didn`t want the post war market to be flooded with secondhand vehicles when he could produce new !!!) I was on site in Roberts barracke in Osnabruck (Germany) when foundations being dug they unearthed all sorts of WW2 field gear, helmets, guns, etc in the early seventies. I also heared that after the first Iraq war the americans buried 1200 tanks rather than go through the hassle than transporting them home. These activities did happen but how frequently who can tell   Ashley
  8. Hi Karoshi, the tiger is still in the U.K i belive, apparently after leaving Aberdeen (because they have no storage facilities undercover) it went to germany where i belive the engine was removed by persons unknown ???so it came to the U.K. but i not sure who actually has it. As for the building of repro`s there was a similar tale several years ago with reference to german A7V`s of which there is only one example left. Ashley
  9. Hi all, idid hear from a friend who spoke to one of the organisers, thiugh it is a pre- D day show they did not object to post war vehicles being in attendence but strictly no axis vehicles and no sales of nazi (  ) militaria or display of german uniforms. I must admitt i usually like my tent (non military) to be close to my jeep but at this shoe it wont happen I shall suffer from tea withdrawl symtoms    Ashley

Hi Berni, with out checking the dates i belive `ordanance tan ` was authorised in 1943, most of the Afrika Korps vehicles were shipped in the grey colour and received a tan over coat /camo on arrival but most were left grey and just accumulateted acovering of dust and sand through normal use. Ashley
  11. Hi all, i have put my name down so here`s hoping. Ashley
  12. Hi Jack, if he doesn`t reply i`ll have it Ashley
  13. Hi Paul, if you like post-war British vehicles why not some thing smaller, champ, humber truck, or if you have storage what about an antar and trailer (at least you can transport the pig as well !! )  Personally i would have thought one large vehicle would be enough, but i know plenty of guys who own two or more large vehicles. On the other hand..... did the pig tow anything trailer, weaponry, some thing else to consider ? But in the end the choice is .....yours Ashley

Hi Berni, looking good, nice to see the early "panzer grey" coour as most german vehicles usually appear in "normandy camo" schemes Ashley

  16. Hi Jack, being a man of means ! maybe you should invest in two set`s of wheels for your truck, and use the set with bar treads for those special shows Ashley
  17. Hi steve, looking through references the comon placement on the glove box lid is from left to right ..... info plate on transmission and transfer box, nomenclature plate, caution plate. in most pictures they are fixed with screws, but i am sure i have seen them fixed with studs ?(as are mine with copper studs, but i know they are not genuine ww2 era) may be a copy of "The jeep buyers bible" by Mark Askew would be usefull to you as it covers the full range of jeeps from the bantam jeeps through too the newer wrangler type ISBN No 0-9534470-5-7 Ashley

  20. Hi steve, i am sure that you wern`t in any danger as the (german ) guy on the left was wearing the second class bar to the 1914/18 iron cross :!: which would make him at least 50 yrs old (unless he `s had an easy life !!!!! ) so he must be a repro or a spy    Ashley
