    Can you help?

Hi Jack, as you may have gathered from some of the local MVT members, if you sat them in front of a P.C. they would spend ages trying to find the B.B.C. and ITV channels :-D Ashley
  4. I totally agree with you Tim (too) and hardyferret, to actually film such a scenario is bad enough, but to post it on a public viewing platform is as far as i am concerned complete and utter stupidity :nono:. Yet i also agree with Jack, an extension of military vehicle ownership is living history/ re-enacting, and these are what the public want to see these days. Far from the early days of MV collecting when the Public were happy just to see the vehicles in static displays and arena appearances, things have moved on. At the Horndean show this year i was watching some of the SS re-enacters, some accurate portrayals were evident, but also the fanaticism (aggression) was also very evident from one or two participants, and any of you who know me fairly well also know i have a keen interest in modern German military history (from 1900 - 1957) but find some (and it is just some) of these people somewhat disturbing who portray the political side rather than the military side. But on saying that the German armed forces (mostly ) of the the period 1935-1945 were politically indoctrinated, apart from that....... great vehicles, uniforms, arms and armaments, and some people who fought `for germany` Ashley
  5. Clive, nice to see you this weekend, along with Berni, Ross and Rowan, and hope you enjoyed yourselves. Sorry to say that members of the Dorset Branch of the MVT were very thin on the ground indeed must of been the threat of aqueous solution probable by the Met. office  Anyways thanks to all who arrived with vehicles especially, those from out side the area. Sunday morning was quite active compared to Saturday, until the looming clouds forced a mass packing up session, except for H.K. Dave who tried to fly his tent like a kite :-D Ashley
  6. Hi Larry, try a search for `veterans agency` you`ll get the info from there. But for the army for access to family members (army)...... Army Personnel Centre, Historical Disclosures, Mail Point 400, Kentigern House, 65 Brown Street, Glasglow. G2 8EX But this for post 1920 service, so you may need another address. alternatively phone 0800 169 2277 best of luck Ashley
  7. Hi Clive, this meet is usually very relaxed and attendance varies though it is usually well attended. Camping (sleeping in vehicles) is the norm for overnight stayers. In the evening there is a road run for those who want to take part , this will have a pub stop :-P  People have sold their extra`s, double`s etc and there are no strict pitch payments In the past there has been a tour of the reserve collection on the sunday morning but i can not give any guarantees for this year. Also German re-enactors set up camp. This has been the generalization in the past Hopefully see you there (bring some sun with you please:) 0 Ashley
  8. Hi all, sorry to hear about your back Jack, i have been there my self (protruding disc ??) and do`t forget the whiskey is for rubbing on the painfull area, not for drinking !! :naughty: Ashley

  12. Hi all, this debate has been discussed be for :box like Steve i also have a trailer to tow the jeep on, but so far this year i have only used it twice once for Beltring it may be only 130 odd miles but as i travel alone, by jeep up to 5 hours on the road and by trailer 2 - 3 hours, bit of a sh*t having to pay £30 to park the car in a field though :-( . The second occasion was a fairly local show, but on the trailer wife daughter + friend arrive comfortable and can spend maximum time at the show  :yay!:  and ££££`s saved on fuel. Each to his own in enjoying the hobby. Ashley
