  1. This news item came up a few days ago, don't know anymore than that.
  2. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12529133/cavalry-major-foreign-tank-con/
  3. I have emailed Jack about this, so hopefully he can resolve the problem.
  4. Iain, The email address of this 'new member' is at invisionpower.com and it would indicate it to be related to the website server as this is shown as Invision on the bottom of the page. We need Jack or Joris on to the case, where are they ????
  5. Not just you, somebody has been messing around, HMVF header has gone, all photos have gone leaving a link, which if you click on, does not open. Maybe the site has been hacked?
  6. Hi Roy, Good job you did not take your test in the 10 ton Albion RE machinery wagon, they were incredibly heavy to steer, not helped by the big lathe across the front end of the body.
  7. Hi Iain, Right truck but wrong body, looks like a workshop body from a Bedford RL. The Albion had the same design workshop body as used on the Fordson WOT6 and Bedford QL, canvas tilt with fold down sides to act as work benches. I remember one of these still in service in late 70's.
  8. Hi Roy, The REME Museum and SEME vehicle collection are now based at Lyneham, if you contact them ask for Roger Jones as he looked after the vehicles at Bordon and is still with the museum at its new home. regards, Richard
  9. K-Seal is the best, it never blocks radiators, but seals weeps quickly. Well known in the trade. Just a thought, did you get the gasket the right way up? I have rebuilt many Bedford engines without problems, so it has to be something simple. As I said, re-torque the head to 80lb/ft in the correct tightening sequence.
  10. Once warmed up, retighten to same torque (as Mike has stated), then check the valve clearances again. You often find it will go down a bit more. Incidentally, I recommend K-Seal for leaks in the cooling system, it will not block the radiator. Better than the dog turds we used to use (Barseal!), they did cause problems.
  11. The Panther arrived at the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns this week, he is a TV news item;
  12. A really interesting story and a sad ending. Thank you for relating it. regards Richard
  13. Definitely black, I worked on 100's of them in Workshops. The tanks may well have been repaired at some point in service and painted green then.
  14. Hi Dave, I'm good thanks, still firing on all cylinders! Are you still involved with Steve's museum collection?
  15. The only thing to be aware of is that Stalwart brakes use Mineral oil in the hydraulics, whereas most commercial vehicles would be using conventional brake fluid. The seals would have to be suitable for mineral oil.
  16. The cab interior photo here is the one I worked on, dashboard to right of steering column. I recognise the seat cushion as it came with my ex-Danish QL and was rock hard!
  17. Looks like someone has made a bloomer then, unless some early WOT6 vehicles were different in the cab. I think the machinery truck was not in the early contracts.
  18. Ah yes completely different to a WOT6
  19. It is not something you can replicate easily as it is a rather curvaceous cover. I dont have a photo of the one I worked on unfortunately. The only other Ford that is similar is the WOT8 and I suspect it is the same, but they are much rarer trucks.
  20. It looks to be US made instrument. With a recording of revolutions I am guessing for an aircraft but could also be from a tank maybe
  21. Have you tried oiling the internals, they were supposed to be done about every 6 months. It might be due to too much friction, unless it is worn out of course.
  22. Hi Mick, You are probably right, I have not heard a Goon Show for years now. Hope all is well with you on The Island
  23. I used one of these on a Humber Snipe staff car many years ago, looks more in keeping than a plastic inline one and better filtration. Unfortunately I have no recollection now of threads.
  24. Is that Eccles from the Goon Show driving? Perhaps that is where he met Spike Milligan whilst recovering his runaway artillery piece 😀
