  2. A couple more of the vehicles old and new.
  3. Glourious weather, a chance to have fun and do some good. A commemeration run in aid of Combat Stress. The original 1909 run was London to Brighton, we got as far as the Plough Pub Hildenbourough. Mind you be behind a 1890 Panhard going down Star Hill, with the wooden brake blokes smoking is something that will stick in the memory.

  6. Funny thing is I've recently been given a couple of cans that had spent there life in Normandy after being 'borrowed' in 1944. they are sand couloured.
  7. I've pictures dated 1940/41 in the 'War Illustrated in Abassynia. The RR cars are still in use, note they truck has a camo scheme on it, also apparently common at the place and time.
  8. Also used as a bomber, acording to the book 'Air America'. Drums filled with a mix of disiel and Tide detergent, and a WP grenade strapped on, caled 'Hot soup'. They also dropped the first FAE explosives.

  10. So Gents, a US pint of petrol weighs about 3/4 of a pound weight. So a US gallon wieghs about 6 lbs. Now who knows the tare weight of a US Jerry can? Incedentaly the ones in the picture have 'British' tops.

  19. Good and bad. We are now approaching the time when the Great War will leave living memory. Things that may have upset the living will slowly come to light, amongst other things we are approaching the 'Hundred year seal' mark. Going to be an intresting time.

  24. I suggest another hoary old saying should be borne in mind, 'Any landing you walk away from is a good one!' Fortunatley that happaned, metal can always be fixed.
