  1. Mine still has original paint. It is a dark olive green shade.
  2. Every thing is based on something that is either grown or mined.
  3. Looks like a railway lamp.
  4. I've heard of deep ploughing but!:wow: The joys of working in an Englsih spring.
  5. Suposedly intiated because the RAF blue uniform is the same colour as an ointment used to traeat personal irritating problems. ALB at South Cerney had a large crab as part of the road side base sign.
  6. There si Granville High Temp black instant gasket. That seems to replace most of the stuff on Land Rovers now. The can even has an adjusatable noozzle for wire thin to great dollops.
  7. With Mr Walker's reputation for commentarys? Oh boy ! Heads down lads!
  8. Might also be worth putting a diff gaurd, a thicker plate that bolts round the tube away from the cover, if you are doing heavy work. As Richard says the cover can distort relativley easily.
  9. Thanks Richard. I'm familiar with the carbide caving lamps and those used to black gun sights. There a lot simpler add water light Acetelyne gas produced, very smocky though.
  10. ABSOLUTLEY NOT!!! IT won't work. There is no real effort in taking the plate off, then clean thouroughly, have a good look round inside to check everything then get a suitable sealeant for your climate. Cannot emphasis enough half an hour now will save a hell of a lot of expense , damage and possible totally ***diff in the future. The breathers are the little top hat things on the top of the axle tube. They just unscrew, and are a little ball bearing valve. If the axle oil over pressures they release the pressure. If you are going into a lot of water, then get a set of remote breathers. These are the same at the bottom but have a long tube that fixes higher up the chassis.
  11. Just thought Point 103 outside Tilley. That will give a view of one of the hardest fought battles imidiatley after D-Day. There is also Tilly La Compainge the other side of Caen. Captain DESMOND GLOVER KINGSFORD M C 121551, 3rd Bn., Irish Guards who died age 30 on 10 August 1944 Son of Douglas H. and Margaret M. Kingsford, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Remembered with honour TILLY-SUR-SEULLES WAR CEMETERY Grave/Memorial Reference: IX. H. 10. An Olympic athlete buried at Tilly
  12. Nice result, godo luck. Whatever you do you'll forget something, that's half the fun!
  13. That looks like the seal between the acess panel and the axle tube has gone. Check breathers as them being blocked may have caused it, then speack to your local garage. You are operating in an extreme climate, local knowledge as to the best thing to repalce the seal with could save a lot of grief. There are a lot of sealants now that are far better than gaskets. Better to strip and clean it all now, before any major problems or embarresment.
  14. Goldbeach museum at Ver Sur Mer. Tilley Sur Selle, a great little museum. Jerusalem famr just outside Tilly, best Calvados in the region, like liquid sunshine, but can only be bought at the farm.
  15. Take the axle breathers off and check they aren't blocked. I've seen a lot of leacks due to people missing that one.
  16. Hi and welcome! There is a recovery thread on the forum where we've all chipped in our pennyworth's.
  17. PhilB, I've got Halford's semi synthtic 20/50 in my Dodge WC51. That is good stuff and keeps higher pressure after a long run than my previous Valvoline straight mineral 20/50. My new WC54, is running on Straight 30 , pressure from certain respected members here, . So far she hasn't had a long run on fresh oil so I can't compare, but a recent 88 mile run home from Portsmouth, on oil God alone knows how old. Pressure stayed a steady 55 lbs all the way through. I have now flushed the engine out and changed oil and filter There was nothing nasty in the mix, apart from the colour. The one thing I would say is a motto painted on the wall of the enginnering shop at college, 'Good oil and greas are cheaper than repairs'.
  18. Having a nose around the various comment coloums on Huffington Post there seem to be an awful lot of people complaing that 'This is another ploy on the goverment to cut what rich people pay'. Owning my Dodges is what keeps me POOR! :-D
  19. The A-L lamps have a difrent piping system. Do they take gas from a tank? I'm wondering what Dissolved Acetelyne is. Do the self generating type work on a lump of carbide?
  20. Spent a few days last week at a sea side camp site. Wish I'd taken the 12 bore! Any way it would be a good excuse for Mr Plod, 'Reason for having dirty great artillery pice in the garden?'
