  2. DVLA trying to keep thier jobs? Might be worth going to a Post Office changing the class and present DVLA with Fait Acompli.
  3. Change all the flexible pipes for a start, they may be balloning. Also try bleeding again. The term is very apt on Landy brakes. As a test get some brake clamps and clamp each of the flexis in turn. If the problem dissappears that is the offending flexi or cylinders. If with all three pipe clamped off, then it is fluid seeping back past the master cylinder seals. Also adjust brake shoes on the snail cams. If there out all sorts of weird things can occur.
  4. I'd suggest you politley e mail them the above. :cool2: The details were obtained via a query on the DVLA web site. Though it does say you can change the class at the Post Office. Change of tax class You can request a change of tax class at any Post Office that issues tax discs. The Post Office can tell you which tax class your vehicle can have. The Post Office will send your V5C or V62 to DVLA, who will send you an updated V5C. https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-details-registration-certificate Theres the link.
  5. Used to do film and TV work with horses. Great fun, and a lot of good stories, but you have to stand your ground with Directors, they don't give a damm about your kit.
  6. I did get a recent update from DVLA on this. Posted on another thread. If the taxation class is not already shown as 'Historic Vehicle' on the V5C for your vehicle, you will be able to change your taxation class at the point of relicensing at the Post Office®. The V5C must show a date of registration prior to the 01.01.1974. If this is not recorded on the V5C and the vehicle was manufactured prior to this date you will need to produce dating evidence and apply by post to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1DZ. Acceptable dating evidence can be obtained from: • An extract from the manufacturer/factory record - these will have the chassis number of the vehicle against the month and year of production* • An extract from the 'Glasses guide'- which is a comprehensive guide on production dates and includes chassis numbers • If the vehicle has been imported and already registered, the original foreign registration certificate. *A certified copy of the factory record (with the embedded stamp) will be acceptable only from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) The keeper will need to write ‘Historic’ in the change to taxation class field in section 7 of the V5C and sign section 8. If the application is successful, you will receive your tax disc within 2 weeks. An updated V5C will be returned within 4 weeks. If a V62 form is submitted a V5C will be returned within 6 weeks. So acording to thier own information, the vehicle should be changable on the VL5!
  7. Just renewed my insurance on the two Dodges with Cherished Vehicles. The cost £219, the same as it has been for the last six years! So maybe not a no claim discount as such, but never gone up.
  8. Thanks. Does look like it may have to be out of area repair.
  9. Horses and tanks have a history together. Some times a bit fraught. I used to excersise my bosses horses around Larkhill and Savernake Forest. Both have a lot of military vehicles about. I was galloping flat out down a ride in the Savernake when a Fox CVR(W) came round the corner. Driver braked hard, Hoses braked harder. Commander and I met hanging round the gun barrel.:-D
  10. Welcome in mate! There are a couple of other Bus Drivers (Or Busters as you would call them) around as well, so we wine and whinge over a lot of diffrent types of vehicles. Do like the Mog.
  11. Many congratulations, but, who gets to weild the tank in an argument?:-D
  12. Essential tools for all trips. 1x Plastic container containg a gallon of water. 1 x LARGE reel Gaffer tape. Large bag of assorted cable ties. Phone number for breackdown service. Best freeing agent/rust remover I've found, by acident, is burnt old gear oil and disiel mix.
  13. Another method is to heat a pan full of engine oil till it goes rainbow on the surface then pour into plug holes. Wait a couple of minutes and try turning.
  14. Royal Amouries Leeds. They claim over 7,000 exhibits. About 6750 being pairs of bayonets stuck on the wall of the central tower.
  15. Thanks guys, the hunt commences. Talk about lost knowledge. The 1938 Wolsley guide to servicng, and Wolsley dealear could do the work for £5 2s 6d . Though it was the most expensive thing in the book! :-D (For the younger generation thats £5. 12 1/2p, though no VAT then)
  16. Just experience. :-D Fit one new bit, and the rest go like Dominos.
  17. I could go right off you! :-D A friend of mine made a few quid running an open top bus past Biggin Hill while they were there. Must be the most popular military thing for years.
  18. Thanks but a bit far away. Should have said the car is in Croydon.
