  2. I was talking to Amanda on the Jeeparts stand at war & peace show and apparently their stock of Dodge master cylinders were all found to be faulty, they have just had to return a batch of the new faulty ones to their supplier in France, so that may be your problem
  3. I would think Post War, standard American pattern pintle hook
  4. Story of RR Services importing 16 M3 tanks from Brazil, in 2008, five with Guiberson diesel engines http://www.milweb.net/features/m3a1_stuart_tank.php Details of the above M3A1 Diesel tank in Bovington tank museum http://www.tankmuseum.org/museum-online/vehicles/object-e1990-58
  5. And two more interesting Sound mirrors, one is the oldest known built in 1917, are at the National Trust White Cliffs Dover, Fan Bay Deep shelter site, a long walk along the cliff path to the tunnels but well worth a visit in, they are in a most remarkable state of preservation, the sound mirrors a part of the tour, usually open friday to monday during the summer https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/the-white-cliffs-of-dover/features/visiting-fan-bay-deep-shelter video shot of the tunnels as found, then were made safe, tons of debris removed and opened to the public
  6. and don't forget the obvious, ...check the oil level to see the sump is not overfilled, had a dodge with same symptons, the fuel pump was leaking petrol into the sump and had filled it right up, oil level was so high it was sucked through the PCV valve into the inlet manifold producing clouds of smoke
  7. Now there is NO selling stuff in the camping areas otherwise you will be charged £460 the same rate as a market/trade stall !!
  8. Ah.. yet another recent ammendment to the site plan
  9. Looking at the W&P show site plan of the Hop Farm there are some changes, the Trade/Stall area is smaller, not extending as far as the main road perimeter fence as this area is the Fairground, the area behind beer tent/toilet block formerly Officials/Stall area is now 40's Home front area, no "Quiet" camping field anymore behind the arena, it now has some structures built on it, the whole of the Right Hand side of the Americas field is now entirely the "Public Camping area", that will destroy the green camping atmosphere of years back and many be dissapointed they've lost their previous woodland camping spots .....and no mention of the helicopter? no loss there.. https://warandpeacerevival.com/trade-stand-layout-hop-farm/
  10. 1.5 inch is Not enough free travel on the brake pedal, do not go by the original workshop manuals measurment, adjust the master cylinder pushrod to give a Lot More free play, start with At Least 3 to 4 inches of free pedal movement, then road test, it may need more adjustment, that will cure the problem of brakes binding, its a common problem with Dodge brakes of not enough free play on the master cylinder pushrod causing the brakes to bind, get hot, the fluid expands and brakes lock on
  11. Except the Panther tank is Not Bruce Cromptons, his company Axis track Services are restoring for the owners, the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum, look on their Facebook page for pics of its restoration progress which started back in Jan 2016 https://www.facebook.com/ausarmour/
  12. There were Lots more than 6 made, more like many Hundreds, they were made for many years, the early ones had Ford 10 hp engines. Some later were also LPG fuelled. I used to see lots of them at the MOD Disposal sales, they are Not particularly rare, perhaps not often seen as they were bought for use off road on farms/market gardens and estates, they still turn up for sale on ebay, a few have been restored and road registered. The reason no info is available is they were purely designed as a works tug for use within Naval Dockyards and shore based Depots, even though they had a Navy registration number they were Not for general road use, so they were regarded as plant & equipment, same as a forklift truck, Not a road going vehicle hence not included in military vehicle record archives
  13. DELETED ! ..through lack of interest and my post ridiculed by very childish, irellevant replies!!!!!!!!
  14. The Kubels that were crashed were stunt replicas, crashed, straightened out and used several times over, so there were not 14 of them, I nearly bought the red Graf & Stift bus complete with bullet holes! that starred in the film when it came up for sale after filming
  15. Alas a common problem with Dodge exhaust manifolds rusting onto the two long studs, wd40 won't help or any penetrating fluid is of little use in this situation due to the length of the studs. Remove the inner wing panel to gain access between the front wing and the tyre and apply Lots of heat with blow lamp to the exhaust manifold around the studs...and hope....some extreme methods I've had to resort to, the manifold may move enough away from the block to get a hacksaw blade in the gap where the gasket would be and saw through the studs!, with the manifold off then try to drill out the rusted studs in a pillar drill, I have tried to drill out the studs with the manifold on the engine and its its almost impossible to keep the drill from wandering off line into the cast manifold. Be carefull when trying to separate the manifolds, as the bolts will shear off in the inlet manifold as well. If all fails alas...The Final resort,.. which I have also done, is to break the exhaust manifold into pieces with a club hammer !!. then drill out broken studs in the block and fit a new manifold !
  16. The GMC is an historic commercial vehicle that weighs Over 3.5tons so it Cannot be classed as a 16 seat minibus, your D1 licence won't apply because of the GMC's weight, about 5 tons, Even for Private use unless the driver holds a PCV licence it is limited to carrying Only 8 passengers + driver, ..vehicle is too old to require seatbelts, you need to check the side facing bench seat passenger situation with your insurance company, doubt if they would be insured.
  17. Another film prop replica I have driven, from AlloAllo "Grubers Little Tank", its built on a ww2 Ford WOT2 15cwt truck
  18. The military vehicles and replica tanks and armoured cars used on Bridge too Far were all supplied and built by the late Charlie Mann who ran a Military museum in Cornwall, he also built the 6 wheeler Mercedes truck used in the chase scene on the original Indiana Jones film, it was based on a ww2 GMC 6X6, after he died Southerbys auctioned everything off. The Dodge based 4x4 Armoured car was built on a 1950's US Military M43 Ambulance chassis/running gear, the replica body was not armoured but just sheet steel construction, very convincing even close up. Later on when it had been sold to another film prop hire company who I worked for, I drove it on an Agatha Christy film shot in Israel along with other vehicles we shipped out from the UK.. I have some photos of it somwhere. It was in more recent years it re appeared at the War&Peace show for a few years then put up for sale, and I saw it again now owned and used by some French reenactors in Normandy in 2014, I guess the other replica armoured cars on the film were probably also Dodge based too, probably later "blown up" or modified for other productions. What other war films are you researching?
  19. Don't believe the prices quoted for vehicles bought and sold on Wheeler Dealers, Mike Brewer does not even buy or sell the vehicles either, the "sellers" and "buyers" are usually actors or even production crew, its all staged and scripted, the production company buys and sells the vehicles, even selling on ebay. Alas its now the End of the programme as we know it, with Ed China Leaving the show as He does not agree with how Velocity, who have taken over from Attaboy productions, now want to produce the show in the future. Ed China's explains why He is Leaving Wheeler Dealers--- [/url]
  20. I pay a similar price too for my policy with RH Specialist insurance which was Cherished insurance, £206 seems expensive, more than the usual classic car policy price
  21. Here you go, a rare K5 gun portee version in a scrapyard for sale on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262826578766?ul_noapp=true&clk_rvr_id=1184119601330&rmvSB=true
  22. This is a perfect A frame just to tow a Jeep, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Solo-Matic-One-Man-Towing-A-Frame-Dolly-/142276654064?hash=item21205973f0:g:DT0AAOSw32lYoJXz
  23. Often the cause of wheel shake on a 4x4, or in this case 6x6 is worn bearings in the swivel housings on the ends of the front axle, these bearings have to be tightened to a determined preload using shims so the swivel bearings are under pressure and offer resistance when moving the steering swivels, they have a damping effect, if they are worn and there is insufficient resistance then wheel shimmy can occur Previous post about a GMC with same steering shake problem and new swivel bearings which cured the problem http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?3453-GMC-Truck-Steering&p=35373#post35373
  24. May be cheaper to see if a 24v distribtor and coil from an M38A1 same engine? or possibly from a Hotchkiss 24v distributor will fit, for which points, etc are available ok
