  1. Complete Scimitar or Sabre wanted-petrol or diesel-incomplete considered
  2. I use a different barrel sleeve on mine...
  3. It's true!-just like drones, there are trials both in US, and UK companies, piloting unmanned tracked vehicles from containers via satellite.
  4. wow-everything a cvrt should be. UK should have done this a long time ago. looks like an ex Belgian one with up armoured louvres-wonder whose diesel engine is in it?
  5. Anyone got a spare one or more? thanks Terry
  6. can collect, condition not too important-what have you? thanks
  7. we brits like a little extra protection..............
  8. Wow! just looking at the optics below the periscopes-is Trojan now operable by remote control? I have seen the Terrier operated remotely
  9. The RAF Manston History Museum & The Spitfire and Hurricane Museums at Manston Airport, near Ramsgate in Kent are staging a one off show this may on Saturday the 28th Air show is planned to be very entertaining (subject to new CAA regulations being finalised) and we have a huge area to use, so all are welcomed to bring and display vehicles, and wearing of uniform would be great show time is 10am to 4pm, full catering/toilet facilities on site, and easy direct access from the A299. further details from the RAF Manston History Museum, or call/mail me, Terry Brooks on 01843 842682 Look forward to seeing you there!
  10. it looks like a blue peter attempt at tank modelling-3 boxes stuck together with a straw poking out the front.whatever happened to sexy? It may be assembled here, but how much of it is made in England?
  11. sorry, should have added to look at the inner and outer sides of the teeth on the sprocket to see if the track has been throwing out of line
  12. check outer sprocket is in line with inner one (small hole below one tooth must line up with other sprocket) rubber tyres on sprocket wheels are good. use a straight edge on all road wheels and rear idlers to check they are parallel to hull. Most likely culprit could be a failed rubber bush(es) in the track, throwing it out of line
  13. If it speed rather than engine rpm related then it points to drive train-drop the track (slack off bleed bolt on grease ram, remove one pin with drift) Sprockets should offer resistance to being turned, but smooth, with no up/down play in bearing. Drive up through gears-any mechanical noise will resonate from the front bulkhead. If the noise has gone, then its track-track alignment issues causing the noise.
  14. Hi Andrew, this may be the cavitation 'growl' best heard when stationary, idling, when hot. Loudest in neutral, and reduces as you change up through the gears. Final drive may be terminally worn-and can cause serious injury should the drive fail at speed. If it is not the std growling noise, perhaps the best idea would be to break the track clear of the sprockets and test before pulling out the drive shafts-keep us posted.....
  15. I was one of the first to demo a CET at Beltring many years ago, and yes, great toy-but has one massive design flaw-rubber pads on a bulldozer! Shielder is a CVRT pushed beyond its attractive envelope-too wide-too cumbersome ...and for collectors, most will shy away as no gun, and more importantly little or no passenger capacity
  16. [Chally1 / CRARRVQUOTE=Lauren Child;464465]Which vehicle is it from?
  17. an FV817234 made by CAV, or any manuals on how to test them? thanks
  18. a show run by HSE? next they'll be wanting you to provide your own public liability insurance........
  19. Old squaddie trick to make your CVRT go faster-speed limiter grounds through a fuse mounted on the thermostat housing-take out fuse=go faster! sshhh.......
  20. I played on the common as a lad in the late 60's and remember the clump, the tank factory, but don't remember the tanks. On the other side of the clump (opposite the road and dirt car park) there was a riveted steel target plate, about 4 1/2' wide 3' tall with about 20 armour piercing shells in it-great fun with dad's hammer trying to whack them out. Opposite the road that ran past the clump is a open valley with a huge crater in a hill on the far side, and on the slope down from the road there were plenty of tanky bits and a few links. Other tanks around that neck of the woods were; 3 shermans without turrets-parked opposite the range wardens hut at Ash Ranges 1 complete Sherman- in the woods at the back of the RAMC school Mytchett I complete Cromwell-next to Mytchett place Chobham ridges ranges, and the back of Pirbright Camp were also littered with tank targets Terry
  21. Welcome aboard Steve afv ownership can be a steep learning curve, but enjoy it and don't worry about breaking it-there's a world of help and advice here!
  22. wow, fantastic design using latest technologies-can see this being a huge export success. Challenger 3?
  23. Absolutely! any or 432/chieftain or REO owner will gladly take it off your hands, or part use it, or it makes the best degreaser! (even seen it used as paint thinner in the days when squaddies were allowed near paint brushes)
